A general strike is called for January 23 in response to the campaign of kidnapping and murder that ICE is carrying out in the Twin Cities. This is a powerful step forward for resistance.

But in the 21st century, a general strike must assume new forms to succeed.

Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

I am very interested in the political identity formation happening here. This is not U.S. patriotism, it’s state-based. Deploying the L'etoile du Nord (The Star of the North) state motto is a fascinating rhetorical move and a deeply worrying, though perhaps necessary, political one.

i know the intent & strategy of this message, but it's still weird to me that we have an anti-democratic movement that embraces every insane excess of their most energetic members and a pro-democracy coalition that's constantly telling people to calm down and go home

Governments are claimed to be instituted for protecting us from the ability for anyone to claim an arbitrary right of life or death over anyone else. When the government claims that right, then the people no longer have a duty to obey that government, and have a right, nay a duty, to rebel.

This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

rare to see an american politician speak in these terms and it rocks
“When I speak about making our city more affordable, my vision is not limited to the homes that we live in or the child care that we’re making universal — it’s also a vision where we make it possible for working people to afford lives of joy, of art, of rest, of expression.”

After federal troops forced a fugitive slave named Anthony Burns back into slavery in the 1850s, one Bostonian wrote, “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.” The abuse of power radicalizes people. We are seeing that now.

Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.
