@pretendpod.bsky.social listening to your episode about Word of Faith. Disregard if your later episode(s) amend, but you mentioned that the church didn’t arrange marriages, but I know for a fact that in some instances they did. People were forced to marry people they didn’t want to marry.

Saw the creators of Elfquest for the 2nd time this past weekend. 1st time was a bit of a letdown, 2nd verse same as the 1st. Wanted to express how much EQ has meant to me, and I’m sure they hear it repeatedly from fans, but my experience seemed unimportant to them. Still an EQ fan, but…sigh

Two (unimportant) regrets…having tickets for the first Oasis show after they broke up, and having tickets to a cancelled U2 show. Never got to see either live and doubt I’ll ever get the chance.

…I doubt they heard a word of how much Elfquest has meant to me over the years. Neither responded with more than a smile and a nod. Easy to say you should never meet your heroes, but part of me wants to cut them some slack and chalk it up to more about what I brought to the table than what they did.

Went to HeroesCon last weekend to meet the Pinis and have a few Elfquest books signed. EQ was the very first comic I ever owned, way back in the early 80s. Left just a little disappointed. Both were kind and gladly signed my books, but seemed very distracted…
