On November 17th, 2025, the Home Secretary published a policy proposal under the title: "Restoring Order and Control: A statement on the government’s asylum and returns policy”.

Today, more than 500 experts respond urging the government to scrap these proposals

Proud of @apowelllaw.bsky.social for publishing his first book. A necessary critique of how legal/political systems (dis)allow refugee status on the basis of identity categories and stereotypes. Highly relevant as successive UK governments have sought to politicise both migrants and LGBTIQA+ people.
Very excited to share that today is publication day for my first monograph!! Queering UK Refugee Law: Sexual Diversity and Asylum Administration is published as a part of Bristol University Press's Law, Society, Policy series.

I stayed up last night watching AI videos (terrible idea) in preparation for a lecture on how consent can be violated by digital media. I'm convinced that they contributed to my vivid nightmares this morning. There's just something "off" about them, even the most compelling examples. Buyer beware. 👹

The Oxford Unity March brought together hundreds of residents as well as dozens of local organisations, trade unions, and political parties standing together to defend our city's diverse communities. Green Party members showed our solidarity. My comment for Cherwell: www.cherwell.org/2025/11/16/o...

Just one week left to register for my book launch event at the University of Oxford. 📖🎉

This study drew on queer method and theory to explore casual forms of sex work in the digital era. 💷📲

While focusing on post-identity, I highlight overlaps between movements for LGBTQ+ and sex worker rights. 🌈☂️

The people of Oxford showed up on mass to resist the far right and Posie Parker's hateful rhetoric today. Sadly, the government's silence has left a vacuum which these groups have rushed to fill. Never welcome in our city. Also big thanks to whoever handed me this sign. #GenderAnarchy #TransRights 🏳️‍⚧️
