Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

• Imagine, if you will, a government so corrupt it rewrites the history books to bury its own mistakes, convincing the people that questioning the past is 'divisive'.

The march is now passing the Chicago city hall / Cook County hall building. The chant goes up,

"Minnesota don't you fear, we, the people, are right here"

This is powerful from military veterans about Alex Pretti.

"They took his life. Don't let them take his name."
Trump and his allies are already smearing Alex Pretti’s name instead of confronting the truth.

Veterans who served our country and lived because of the VA are outraged. Alex was a VA nurse and hero, not a villain.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.

Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction

It can be done.

As a social movements scholar, I absolutely love the diversity of tactics being developed by each city, reflecting their local flavor

Portland kept it weird with inflatable costumes

Chicago protected its street vendors by buying up their food each day

Charlotte chased ICE agents into the woods
Naaaaaaailed it

I wonder if this is the match that lights the fire to end trump
"Fierce opposition to ICE and the Border Patrol has sprung up through block clubs, neighborhood group chats, school Facebook groups and Catholic parishes, stretching beyond the typical Democratic voter base..."

Yup. Exactly.
