Unfortunately any effort to stop this is going to be undercut by the fact that nobody cared when we raised this issue when Obama was doing it. That was the time to stop it and put guardrails up.

For clarity I definitely wasn't trying to make a statement about every faith tradition but rather the Baptist one that seemed to be the context.

Prohibition of graven images is against attempting to create a physical representation of God himself; not statues/pictures/etc generally.
But also something that happens pretty much every Sunday in nearly every Baptist church.

But also... I'm not sure what you mean by "southern Baptist version". Do you maybe mean Independent Fundamentalist Baptist? SBC to my knowledge typically uses the ESV, NIV, etc. It's usually more "fundy" baptist churches focused on the KJV.

Of course the messengers also wanted to root out sexual abuse and hold leaders accountable and we all know how that went.

I will point out that just last year the messengers of the SBC reaffirmed their alleged commitment to religious liberty reflected in their confession (Baptist faith and message, article XVII) with an adopted resolution that ended:

Keep in mind there's nothing preventing the US from doing nonlethal searches and seizures. The Coast Guard and sometimes Navy often does this. In the time between the 1st and 3rd deadly US strike, sailors from the USS Jason Dunham stopped and searched a ship. The strikes are a deliberate choice.

3rd deadly US strike on a boat in the Caribbean.

As with the others:
-in area US military operates freely
-where arrest has relatively low risk, and greater strategic value
-no US legal rationale, or even attempt to offer one
-blatant violation of international law
-no evidence US knew who they hit

Just now, 11 state and city lawmakers were arrested by DHS police on the 10th floor of 26 Federal Plaza after a hour of demanding access to the ICE lock up on the same floor. @thecity.nyc

Which work? Calling for gay people to be stoned to death? Blaming airplane crashes on black pilots? Anti-vax bullshit? Election denialism? Pushing Great Replacement Theory?

Kirk’s murder is awful and ominous for this country. But no, we don’t need to honor him or “continue his work.”

If you're talking about the 321 thing don't bother. That's really only for the crowd that thinks mushy "McRib" style outcomes are desirable.

I'm not saying Donald Trump is a Soviet asset.

I'm just wondering: if he *was*, what would he be doing differently?

If only. Unfortunately police unions ensure that's nearly impossible.

Me five minutes ago: I'm not going to read the Prince Andrew biography, so I'll just read this article about it

Me after reading these two paragraphs: LMAO GOOD GOD
Here follows some claims Lownie makes about Andrew, backed up by testimony from people who knew the prince: He had a member of the royal staff moved from his job for wearing a nylon tie, and another because he had a mole on his face. He had 40 women brought to his hotel room in Thailand over a 5-day visit. Aged 26, he had dozens of stuffed animals on his bed, one of which wore a vest that read “It’s tough being a prince.” He missed his daughter’s 12th birthday party to hang out with Epstein at his Miami beach house. He ran up a bill of £325,000 on helicopters and planes in 2005 alone. He let a Libyan gun smuggler pay for a holiday he took to Tunisia and accepted a present of a bugged MacBook Pro from an attractive woman who turned out to be a Russian spy; he later tried to get himself a free Fabergé egg on an official Kremlin tour. In his role as a special representative for the United Kingdom, he earned, in the diplomatic community, the nickname “His Buffoon Highness” by refusing to follow his briefs and perhaps even read them in the first place. Once, driving his £80,000 Range Rover to Royal Lodge in Great Windsor Park, he found that the gates’ sensor was broken, so, rather than taking a 1-mile detour, he rammed them open, causing thousands of pounds’ worth of damage.

Name an undesirable trait a person might have, and this book will demonstrate Andrew having it. He is, in addition to being a sex offender, cruel, easily enraged, stupid, boring, naive, attention-seeking, unfunny, childish, arrogant, and out of touch, as well as a misogynist, a liar, a thief, a bully, a pervert, a bad lover, a bad husband, a bad father, a brat as a child, a brat as a teenager, and a brat as an adult. Just when you’re thinking every possible slight has been leveled at the prince, and that there can surely be no greater depth to which your opinion of him can sink, Lownie relates that staff at Buckingham Palace used to have to clear away collections of “soiled tissues” in his bedroom.

A man who was just getting names and badges for officers was wrongfully detained in D.C.

He then yelled, “AFTER THE TRIALS ARE HELD, YOU WILL ALL BE IN JAIL.” 🔥

And then there's the whole problem of how search itself has been ruined (and how a small part of that is because of how "ai" companies have behaved)
