Twin Cities MN folks, question:

Do you know a pain management specialist who is not a dick to people in pain?

I need a specialist who 1) believes in chronic pain of unknown etiology, 2) is willing to provide pain relief for conditions that never improve, and 3) IS NOT A JERK.

You never see the world in real time. Your brain runs about 100 milliseconds behind. 👁️⏳

Your visual system needs that long to turn light into signals and process them, so your brain predicts ahead to mask the delay.

What you see isn’t the present — it’s a reconstruction of the recent past.

The Nuzzi thing is a good reminder that outside the deep structural issues of energy/subsistence, most of what's happening right now is an old-fashioned crisis of elite legitimacy, which sounds comforting until you realize how some of those have turned out in the past

Patrick's great at synthesizing and storytelling, so I'm looking forward to this so much! I've preordered it and you should to! (preordering means a lot to the economics of being an author)

Listen to me, uncaring universe.

Listen.

May all those who harm others in the service of injustice find only in life exactly what their actions earn them. Harm for harm, unkindness for unkindness. May they find no grace, only raw justice.

Law enforcement, protesters clash as federal agents make arrests in St. Paul
Gov. Tim Walz said state officials were monitoring what he called a “chaotic” situation “and working to understand what unfolded. We received no heads up from federal authorities on this operation.”

Every once in a while I remember that it used to be a massive scandal with legal consequences for members of federal government to be revealed as Russian agents. Like. In my lifetime! Not that long ago! Our federal government used to root out, reject, and imprison Russian assets!

Weird, huh?

We may not immediately think of memory as an evolutionary puzzle. But in certain respects—and from certain angles—it is quite puzzling indeed.

Not gonna lie, I made us make these scarves as merch because I don't wear t-shirts with words on them and I was tired of nerdy t-shirts getting all the nerdwear love

(Btw, this time of year is a great time for merch shopping because redbubble is often running sales)
Throwback to launching our very first merch this time in 2017 (!!)

Silky scarves with characters from the International Phonetic Alphabet on them!

Originally only in red, navy, and olive these scarves became so popular we later expanded to other colours and subfields
