There is only one source of money (and wealth) in 🇬🇧: the Govt. New money can only come through Govt spending and old money is removed through taxation. How you spend that money and who you tax determines what kind of society you have. #MMT

Wes Streeting saying on Today that Mandelson is ‘not the man we thought he was’ but the trouble is, he is exactly the man we thought, just on a much worse scale than almost anyone thought. And there is an alternative world where none of this is this govt’s problem, because they never gave him a job

So we are finally getting thrown a few scapegoats such as Mandelson and Andrew whatever he’s called today. It’s not enough. This has been a massive cover up by a lot of people many of who you will see on your screens acting horrified. Don’t be fooled.
I am already sickened and horrified by the fake outrage from people that knew exactly what was going on with Epstein. Hundreds if not thousands of people simply must have known.

NB: The UK govt owns the Student Loans Company, via which it directly funds most home students’ university places.

Framing graduates as indebted to this ‘company’ for the rest of their working lives is an accounting trick that both punishes the pursuit of education and undermines its public value.
Tinkering with interest rates and repayment thresholds is not the solution to UK’s HE funding/student loans nightmare. We need to rethink higher education finance from the bottom up.

1. In 2009 I wrote this. I argued that Peter Mandelson's department “functions as a fifth column within government, working for corporations to undermine democracy and the public interest.”
This thread explains what I saw, and reaches a startling conclusion.🧵

Anyway, the pieces are still up. But there are so many of these stories - and it's so wrong that the law has become a shield used by men against accountability. That's not the promise it makes.

The law makes it *so* expensive to publish stories about what we say is the grotesque wrongdoing of wealthy and powerful men. You have to wonder, as presently constructed, whose side is the law on?

It's definitely against anyone who lacks incredibly deep pockets - and that's usually women.

Please never forget all these powerful and wealthy men (and a few woman) didn't care at all that Epstein raped girls. Just like now, they only cared about their own interests, bottom line and pleasures.

The girls remain an afterthought. A disposable toy or simply a "cost" of doing business.

They had Epstein dead to rights. Nearly 3 dozen victims. He shouldve been in jail for life.

They gave him a sweetheart deal that allowed him to keep raping girls while hopping in and out for prison for 13

Have you noticed, Peter Mandelson, who has made a career out of the careful use of words, always seems to be specific about gender when discussing Epstein's victims, & his own visits with the notorious paedophile & international child sex trafficker, only ever speaking about 'women or girls.'
Well, this doesn't add up...

'The emails... were sent in September 2009, one year after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor.'

"Like everyone else I learned the actual truth about him after his death."

They claim ex-Labour voters say they can't vote for the party with Starmer as leader, so tactical voting doesn't come into it.
