🧵The “about CDC” webpage got a makeover with a long list of CDC “priorities” added. It's worth a read esp if you receive any grant funding from CDC.

TL;DR: CDC will de prioritize grant funding for anything the admin disagrees with regardless of data or public need

It's weird how Tylenol caused autism (first diagnosed in 1943) before it was even invented (1955). What a clever drug.

The ACIP vote was tied 6-6 for requiring everyone to get a prescription for the COVID19 vaccine.

The chair broke the tie by voting NO.

Prescriptions will NOT be required.

BREAKING: Disney+ is to replace the two-season run of Andor with a recut version that runs for only five minutes, and is just Mon Mothma apologising profusely to Darth Vader for any inconvenience, and letting him have whatever he wants.

Reporter: Do you think it would have been fitting to lower the flags for Melissa Hortman who was killed as well?

Trump: Uh, I’m not familiar, who?

“We need to get up from under our desks and persuade our fellow citizens that the institutions that they have helped create with their tax dollars are incredibly precious and important.”

Hit up Dr. Mariana Rückert @mruckert.bsky.social for a former Sao Paulo resident Chiefs fan - Would love to hear her thoughts on Chiefs in Brazil! She's also a pancreas expert, JBB 🍤 (shrimp is the closest we have to panc emoji)

RFK Jr: It's gonna be the biggest infusion of federal dollar into rural healthcare in American history

BERNIE SANDERS: Yeah. You know why? Because you're cutting $150b for rural hospitals, you're putting $50b back. That's not an infusion. That's a loss of $100b.

WARNER: Do you accept the fact that 1 million Americans died from covid?

RFK Jr: I don't know how many died

W: You're the secretary of health and human services. You don't have any idea how many Americans died from covid?

RFK Jr: I don't think anybody knows that

W: How can you be that ignorant?

Powell: "GDP growth has slowed notably in the first half of this year, to a pace of 1.2%, roughly half the 2.5% pace in 2024. The declining growth has largely reflected a slowdown in consumer spending ... higher tariffs have begun to push up prices in some categories of goods."

Over 20 years after Julius’s lab and mine cloned TRPM8, it is rewarding to see this science helping patients. The TRPM8 agonist Tryptyr treats dry eye by increasing tear production. A reminder that NIH-funded curiosity-driven research translates to medicines.

I'm a lifetime Chiefs fan (1st QB's: Green... Croyle, Thigpen, *Orton, etc.). The fact that we get (some) positive attention for off field stuff is something I couldn't have imagined growing up. Absolutely embracing it & it doesn't hurt anyone, so enjoy your clicks for being contrarian.

Cain: It flies in the face of reality when I look at the state of Massachusetts where Donald Trump gets 35% of the votes and zero Republican representatives from the state.

Talerico: Who signed that map? It was a Republican governor.

Talarico on Fox: "If Republican policies are so popular, why do they have to redraw the maps before the election? ... this is like two football teams coming out of the locker room at halftime and the team that's ahead says they want to change the rules for the second half so they can win the game."

Talerico: If Republican policies are popular, why do they need to redraw these maps? Why can't they run on their policies?

Cain: I'm getting wrapped on time. I'm enjoying this conversation. I apologize. Such as the nature of cable television.

Happy b’day, “American Idiot” — released as a single 21 years ago today, and written in the wake of the Iraq War.

“The country had gone into a war based on lies,” said Billie Joe Armstrong, “and no one seemed to care. .. It was a song that came from a very honest, pissed-off place.”
