Took me a minute to figure out why watching "Murdaugh: Death in the Family" is an unpleasant experience, but it soon became clear why. The answer is in Patricia Arquette's psychologically spot-on portrayal of Maggie Murdaugh. www.salon.com/2025/10/16/w...

Many people are wrestling with feelings about versions of Maggie Murdaugh in their lives. That unease worsens the closer we get to the holiday season, when we're likely to encounter them. Or maybe you deal with some version of her every day. Why would you want to spent your off time with her?
What I mean by that is, Arquette walks the fine line between the extremes we usually encounter in true crime docudramas. She makes room to be honest about Maggie's role as a permissive enabler of the horrible men in her life. And that makes her a depressingly familiar figure.

It was very easy to cancel my subscription to a certain news outlet months ago, but it's taking everything in my power to resist giving it a couple of $$ so I can read about a cat that rode on a car's roof for 100 miles & has the same name as my all-time favorite kitty. This is how empires crumble.
His 2000 concert at the pier in Seattle was unforgettable. Between this and Angie Stone's death, the neo-soul generation has experienced huge losses this year.
D’Angelo, the neo-soul trailblazer and modern visionary whose three albums were all heralded as classic works of art, has died at age 51.

Not the same in my experience, alas. But that's for the heads up! I guess I'll just have to figure out how to make them.
So many of the answers I've seen here are negatively impacting my faith in humanity.
What doesn’t belong on a Burger?
Libras are all about balance, remember.
I feel like Carmy and Syd from #TheBear would not snub this on a Tuesday night, idk.
I watched it last year and...same!

From "Black Rabbit" to "Stick," Gen X men on TV—and, tbh, real life—are in the throes of a midlife crisis specific to an '80s kid. So I talked to @mctelevision.bsky.social and more about it all heywhatevernevermind.substack.com/p/tv-gen-x-m...

Or Maxwell Tire Shop Lobby
I mean, it should be renamed Maxwell Church Basement since that's been the only place I've seen that can in eons.

New #Peacemaker tonight. If you haven't been watching S2, or didn't see last week's episode, catch up before reading this. Short non-spoiler summary is that I appreciate James Gunn's, um, experimentation. www.salon.com/2025/10/02/t...
The "Peacemaker" twist is a wake-up call for America

A lot of my generation learned some of the greatest lessons about having empathy for wildlife from primatologist Jane Goodall. Long ago she appeared at a TCA press tour to promote one of her docs. Our members aren't supposed to applaud for panelists. But I'll never regret applauding her.
