Previous research makes plain that student response opportunities are an essential component of good instruction and student learning. However, much more evidence is needed to determine what defines high quality student responses during mathematics instruction.

I haven’t read xkcd regularly in years, then I happened to visit today because my xkcd-loving buddy just died… and today’s cartoon captures the dominant arc in my life right now.

I mean… the personal ones… 🥺
They’re just sublime.

"writing code to solve a problem" used to have "understanding the problem" as a prerequisite. but vibecoding allows solution-shaped objects to be produced without any of the hard-won understanding. beware of solution-shaped objects.

Why is generative AI bad??? I promise there are tons of articles and books that will explain why that have been out for decades.

If you need suggestions let me know. There are several people of here that wrote them.

Oh. That word, “samefood.”
Never heard that but I instantly understand it and can taste a few of mine just by imagining them. Huh.
I feel like this might be an autistic horror trope at this point. Loss of a samefood, safefood or comfort food is piffling in the grand scheme of things, sure, but it does affect your life.
I had that thing today where a place you used to love is suddenly not so good anymore.

It’s been my go-to for awhile. You know this kind of spot. A little happy place bubble.

One day you go and the food is off, the employees are younger/worse, and it’s just not good but it also isn’t *bad*.

🎯 Clearing the way for abusers and cheats of all kinds, all the way down.
It is interesting to me how many of the “deprofessionalized” professions on the Dept of Education lists are people in the position to encounter evidence of abuse - especially for children- and are mandated reporters.

Want to “induce [an LLM] to circumvent its safety, ethical, or legal constraints”?

Cloak your prompts in poetry.
18x greater exploitation rate.

It’s just that dumb.
Great. 🫠
Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..."

This is me with tears in my eyes, in the opening moments of the Paul McCartney concert last night. He calmly walks out in stage, the whole arena realizes he’s there, and my kids, along with everyone else, just go bonkers.

Feeling like I’ve done ok with this dad thing. 🥹

Any opinions/experiences on how to distribute an audiobook? I have recorded it on my own dime, I own audiobook rights (book itself is already published for teachers, doing well). I don't want to hand my hard-earned work to Amazon, but are there options? #EduSky #AcademicSky #MTBOS
