Except the article blatantly misrepresents what E33 is. The issue is that character choice in that game boils down to: choose A or B at the very end, and either way you're gonna feel terrible because the choice has nothing to do with 90 of the story so far.

I deleted the post with the hate comment, as I did not feel comfortable leaving it up like that... I screenshot and archived everything before deleting it off my story, I hope it's enough.

I have been writing fiction for 20 years. I've been insulted before but never something like this.

I'm sad.

Also, I think the person actually has her own account on Ao3 because while commenting as a guest, they left their nickname in and I found a profile by the same name. I screenshot everything, blocked them, and deleted the comment from my story. Hopefully that's enough...

Fair enough, then I am curious because writing and ludonarrative dissonance and writing cohesion is something that, to me, is very important but I seldom see brought up. And it's caused me a few regretful and not cheap buys.

Sorry I didn't mean it as a swipe. I meant that with the volume of games that come out each week, not all reviewers will be able to set aside the dozens of hours needed to finish an RPG. It's something I've seen many people in the business complain about.

No. Seriously. If we've come to the point where player choices don't even need to be validated, there's no point in having them anymore.

E33 is like this, the endings don't gel with the game because the devs cared about making you feel a certain way about a certain topic more than giving a satisfying resolution.

Game reviewers likely didn't touch on this because it requires you to finish the game. They don't have that kind of time.

In my head, I always split narrative heavy pieces of art in two groups: those who are created to make you feel/think about something, and those who are for telling a stories.

In my experience, the first ones are always much more hit than miss, because everything else comes 2nd to the message.

The endings have been a large Clair Obscur bugbear of mine because one of them invalidates everything you've done during your playthrough, which to me is a much higher emotional cost, while the other casts you as bad. Sandfall says these endings are equal, but they're not set up that way

Doing #Kinktober has been a great idea. I'm learning a lot, getting out of my comfort zone and challenging myself in ways I haven't in a long time.

Also love how, whenever I look up a new kink from the list I don't know, my reaction is either "Oh, interesting." or "NNOPE!". No in-between. XD

This is why I bought Eternal Strands. I haven't had GamePass in a minute, but I knew I wouldn't finish the game on the service. To me it's the tiers that ruined the original value proposition. I don't care about CoD Day 1, and I'm not figuring out what game is on what tier

If you're cancelling Game Pass today, grab a cheap indie game or two, and then put the rest of the money toward supporting indie games media by subscribing to your favourite podcasts/websites/etc.
