Hello. If you're new to me, please know a *lot* of this feed is pictures of my feet as evidence of having reluctantly gone for a daily walk (#UnconfinedWalks). See also cups of tea (#TeaUp) and a Saturday night social (#ConfinedCocktails). In between there may be some archives.
I stayed awake! And now I've given blood again. Like a pro*. My deliciously rare B neg is in processing.

*second time, still hate fingerprick tests, mini Cheddars still the best snack option, somehow got lost in the hospital after having no problems last time, not a vestige of a swoon though.
In a triumph of planning I've scheduled the accreditation assessors meeting (always fun) this afternoon, just before giving blood. Which means having a hefty pasta lunch before this two hour meeting which I need to chair and speak a lot at.

Zzz.

On budget day, think of George Ward Hunt, who delivered his only budget in 1868.

On arriving in the Commons he discovered that he'd left his speech behind, & had to run home to get it while MPs sat grumbling in the Chamber.

That is why chancellors show the red box to journalists before setting out

I keep meaning to recommend Kenrex, and here it is with special offers available: www.londontheatredirect.com/play/kenrex-.... An antidote to twinkly festivity, and a pretty amazing not-quite-one-man-show. I loved it at Southwark.

In a cruel twist of fate, it turns out I still don't have a house gnome and am forced (FORCED!) to do my own washing up. Pffft.

OTOH, the amaretto mince pie things from Lidl aren't bad. My first mincemeat of the season. Bit sweet, inevitably. But pleasing.

Well. I would call that a mixed return to work. Some really promising and interesting opportunities and the odd very much less so heffalump trap. None of which I was anticipating. Lawks.

Been at work for an hour and a half. Want to sob with exhaustion. The inbox isn't even that bad, although not entirely unbothersome. The trouble with holidays, see, is that they END.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Sigh. Holiday nearly done. It has been lovely though. A rigorous schedule of two exhibitions per day, one glass of wine for lunch, long walks, early to bed, plenty of frivolous reading, and a ludicrous amount of patisserie for support. In some ways, suboptimal, but in others a dream for relaxation.

So. I mentioned it's the centenary of the original Art Deco exhibition and I've been to a couple of small shows on it. But self, isn't there a very large central Musée des Arts Décoratifs that might have something to say on this?

Yes. Yes there is.

It is still raining. I need something to do for absolutely sodding hours tomorrow pm as my homebound train was predicated on getting to Paris from far away. Most things are shut. Do I want to see the Invalides? Or do I risk rain and go back to the Marais for a mooch/Archives Nationales exhibition?
