These are the same kind of weasels who would’ve called George Washington & America’s revolutionaries “terrorists.” They spend their days sucking up to King Trump & demonizing peaceful protest just as some in America sought to appease King George III.

Looking forward to No Kings Day.
Johnson describes planned No Kings rally as ‘hate America,’ ‘pro-Hamas’ gathering
Organizers largely blew off the rhetoric, but some Democrats online criticized the tone.

#showme your knits in autumn colors. Rainbow Jacket with Harrisville yarns from an old kit. Finished knitting last spring, but there’s a neckline error that requires some surgery.

Happy #caturday from these two, sitting on the stair landing preparing a riddle to ask to allow you to pass.
Dolly had to go to the vet. It was raining when she left, and rain got on her, and the entire episode was intolerable.
I finished a Clapotis in Fiber Seed 🧶, color Lost in New York.

Think about it. "Dems were too zealous in trying to prevent the spread of the virus" is, in US politics, a greater disadvantage, a bigger problem, than "Republican lies got hundreds of thousands of Americans killed for no reason."

Just a pathetic fucking country. Pathetic.

I genuinely think this is Trump's ignorance, ramped up by his narcissism: he genuinely thinks this is how the presidency is supposed to work (that the President is literally in charge of the country like a CEO), has thought this for a long time, and was confused his first term was "sabotaged."
“Trump’s pretense to ownership of public goods and public spaces isn’t some quirk to be ignored or waited out — “there goes our Donald!” — but a direct expression of his autocratic ambitions and despotic cast of mind.”

I am sounding the alarm on the real crisis we face today.

Donald Trump’s overreach is what our founders warned against – it is unprecedented, unwarranted, and un-American.

There’s no emergency here that calls for military intervention.

Leftist: Yes, Trump’s kind of a fascist. Now let me get back to my obsession, re-litigating fights with Democratic centrists from a decade or two ago.

Centrist: Yes, there are signs of fascism. Now let me get back to complaining a lefty used some woke terms a few years ago.

once again, i'll suggest that perhaps the reason the broad public thinks democrats are weak is that when confronted with situations that demands that democrats loudly and proactively stand up for their values, democrats shirk from the fight

Crazy idea: Groups that have benefited from our freedoms…should defend them.

Our media should defend freedom of the press.

Our law firms should defend the rule of law.

Our businesses should defend the free market.

Our political leaders of both parties should defend free and fair elections.

I don't have a good answer for what the alternative looks like, but asking 18 years to bet their future on highly specified training for jobs based on which they think will be in high demand 5-10 years from now turned out to be a very bad way to structure higher education
I wrote last week about how the tech dream is ending for mid-career workers. This is a really good companion piece about how entry level tech jobs are vanishing, too, and the Silicon Valley gold rush is coming to a close: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/10/t...

1. This week, the FBI released its comprehensive crime report for 2024, which revealed that both VIOLENT CRIME and PROPERTY CRIME reached their LOWEST LEVELS SINCE THE 1960s

This a massive story. But you might not have heard about it, even if you follow the news closely.

Here's why.
Why you might not know that 2024 was America's safest year since the 1960s
An overwhelming majority of Americans, 64 percent, believe that crime increased across the country in 2024, according to a Gallup survey conducted late last year.

Swatching for gauge (Trump method).

1. Knit swatch 4 inches square.
2. Claim swatch is 6 inches square.
3. Do not block swatch. Blocking is woke.
4. Measure gauge.
5. If gauge is off, smash ruler.
6. Claim ruler was made by Biden.
7. Gauge is now correct.
8. Continue to not release Epstein files.

yup. probably not great policy to make college degrees increaingly specific while cutting general education requirements. you end up with graduates who are trained to do one thing that might not be relevant 5 years later bsky.app/profile/leok...
this is one of the reasons why tying a college degree directly to a very specific type of employment is very risky.

I see we're off on another round of humanities versus science.

They're all liberal arts. Let's work together.
Happy Caturday. Garfield had his first birthday and is now a cat, nor a kitten.
