That's the thing about USC's defense - it's not good. You can move it. After that first drive Lindsey apparently realized that and has been doing work since.

That's maybe a TD if Underwood pulled that ball. I assume it wasn't a live read but it was open.
Didn't matter, of course, because McCulley is a stud.

Saw that designed run from the snap and it still worked. Nice block by Marshall.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
USC's run defense is either "we stop you at the line" or "you get 12 yards".
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
That's a video game throw to Marsh right there.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
He looks tentative as well. Like he's trying to do the perfect play instead of a good one.

Underwood definitely seems off today; some bad throws, that sack, etc.

UM is playing with fire on these drives but they have been able to hold USC to only their opening-drive score. Put together another nice drive here that doesn't die just outside scoring range and see how the game feels then.

Man, that completion was there from the snap. Not quite sure what the defense is trying to do but "not this" would be a good start.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
That being called and the OPI on the first TD not is annoying.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Yeah, Underwood is learning that there are some defenders out there who can out-run him. Ah well.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Marsh had a chance to maybe score if he didn't bobble the catch initially. Like what I see out of him.

Again, this is the type of drive you should try to run with this offense. USC doesn't want Michigan to run the ball for 5 yards a pop. This feels like a shootout but if you can limit the possessions that'll benefit Michigan quite a bit.

I'd say take that first throw, then run the ball. A dump off screen to Haynes isn't more effective than him just running the ball right up the middle.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Absolutely. The problem is I'm not sure USC gets slowed down much early on and so you waste a drive that might put them even more behind the 8 ball.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Not loving this scripted drive. Feels like they're trying to mess with the best part of the USC defense. 3 straight passes, two of which are screens isn't going to get you anywhere.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
And yeah, that's clearly an OPI but they never call it so you stop getting mad about it.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Credit to USC for a nice playcall but he does tend to lean into blocks and the WR can easily shed him.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Hill's gotta be ready for that type of play.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Michigan is trying to get by with light boxes up front and USC is running right thru it. We'll see if UM is willing to stick with it.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
Lots of misdirection by USC right now. Defense is definitely guessing on some of them.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
USC sort of doing what I thought they would; short passes and some grinding runs.

James Franklin might legitimately want to look at the UNC job at this point.

I'm just catching on Red River and oh boy does it seem like Mateer came back too soon.
mgobronxblue.bsky.social
That was a pretty nice playcall by Illinois.
