As we experience a huge surge of flu cases, a reminder that the widespread usage of masks at the start of the COVID pandemic wiped out a strain of the flu.

If you haven’t been masking up lately, now would be a great time to restart.
The Covid-19 pandemic killed off one strain of the flu, and that will change the next vaccines | CNN
For 10 years, Americans have had access to flu shots that protect against four strains of the virus: two A strains and two B strains. Starting this fall, however, all the flu shots distributed in the ...

Getting advertised so many “learn to draw” or “learn to watercolor” books and I don’t wanna get taken advantage of but I’d love to learn both next year.

Living in AZ is wild randomly. I can only order my natural deodorant in the winter because coconut oil is a main ingredient and it'd be liquid if I ordered it any other time.

storygraph stats are kind of comforting, because I was feeling pretty low about only having read four books this year but apparently none of them were under 350 pages

why was it a relief seeing people praise avatar and act like a:tla isn't a beautiful piece of media?? idk, I guess cos people are stupid as fuck everywhere and that's kind of comforting

German Shepherds are an extremely sensitive breed and dickheads flock to them and try to act like bullying them into submission and proving dominance is the only way to train.

tl;dr: GenAI and game design concepts traditionally referred to as "AI" (enemy behaviors, pathfinding, etc.) are not the same thing, and I'm on my knees begging people to learn the difference, lest we see more bullshit claims like what The Escapist put out re: Blue Prince.
Weird weekend, huh? Took a crack at breaking down the whole Clair Obscur genAI situation, and its bizarre fallout, as best as possible. My main takeaway right now is that people really need to figure out exactly what they're criticizing or it's going to get messy. www.polygon.com/clair-obscur...
The debate over gen AI in games is about to get a lot messier in 2026

I saw a lot of critique about TSwift’s Ophelia and its accuracy to the play but listening to the lyrics I can’t get over how many goddamn different metaphors there are. PICK A LANE. (It’s catchy tho so I rarely change the radio station).

Idk man maybe it’s cause I spent a long time a prose writer, but a lot of the time when I’m working with an artist I’m like. Just fuck me up. I don’t need AI to show you what I’m thinking because what the artist is thinking is probably better

If you are healthy and moderately active please appreciate it. I just did two 1 mile walks this week and feel like hell but also so relieved because it’s the most I’ve been able to do in two years.

I don't recall Percy being pro-murder in the second Percy Jackson book so that was an odd choice for the series.

the thing that drives me insane about genAI/chatgpt bullshit is that brother, the process IS the work IS the entire thing. no artist comes to art for the final result. the final result is inextricable from the fucking labor that came into making it

"concept artists can experiment with AI to make their lives easi-"

wrong

I smack you with Claire Hummel's immaculate and detailed understanding of costume design, which she got by studying historical references, which made her strong, which you will not become by relying on AI

I feel, perhaps predictably, strongly about this. If you also do, this post shows a way to steer your borrowing with Libby to books with a real person doing the audiobook reading.
