Prof. Gad Galili, my mentor @weizmanninstitute.bsky.social, was a pioneer in plant amino acid metabolism and cell biology, including #autophagy.

Primarily, he was one of the kindest people I've known. Attentive to the mental side of students long before it became common.

May he rest in peace.
My PhD mentor and scientific dad, Prof. Gad Galili, passed away yesterday. He was instrumental in shaping me into the scientist I am today. On top of raising us to be good scientists, he emphasized the importance of being good people in this crazy profession.
I am very sad and forever grateful.
