A huge loss and another textbook example of how censorship works under tyrants
Right after Rolling Stone cut their politics coverage. Both have been doing important politics reporting and hit an audience that isn't necessarily there for the politics. Teen Vogue had more breakthrough stories the past ten years than prestigious politics magazines
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Last night, the National Guard chased children who were out enjoying Halloween in Navy Yard.

There is no valid reason for armed soldiers to terrorize children like this. End Trump’s occupation of DC. National Guard out NOW.
This includes playoff games, which I was pleasantly surprised by.
If you don't mind watching games after they air, League Pass is actually a really good value. You can't watch ESPN games or whatever live, but you can watch it after. Everything that isn't primetime you can watch live

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.

Earlier today in Gresham, Oregon (a suburb just outside of Portland), a US citizen was detained by ICE after taking photos of their unmarked vehicles. US Gestapo smashed the persons car windows before detaining them. They have since been released.
She's a Republican who used 'national socialist' instead of Nazi or fascist.

might be one of the funniest videos i’ve ever seen
I literally can't think of a time I have seen PPB do "normal" enforcement. They never pull people over for speeding and driving without plates, let alone jaywalking and drinking in public. This type of arbitrary enforcement should be considered discrimination
Portland police: on, no. Like, jaywalking and drinking in public. The totally normal enforcement that we do every day.
"Officers told protesters they were issuing warnings Saturday but would subsequently start enforcing city code."

Oh that sounds good. So, gassing people, attacking them, kidnapping them, violating sound ordinance? Codes like that?
Huge factor in the new Portland city council, too, where 1/3 of the council are dsa
Saw a redditor use the phrase that came straight from hell: "part of the ezra Klein extended universe". So, yeah, 🤮
"The Argument is launching with $4 million in venture-capital funding at a $20 million valuation... backers include Facebook cofounder Dustin Moskovitz; former Enron trader John Arnold; a Pritzker family heir; a Niskanen Center board member; and Stripe cofounder Patrick Collison."
Is their necromancer in poor health? Always assumed Stephen Miller but thinking it might actually be "former golf course manager" Dan Scavino.
Thank you. Looking into the county jail. Deaths are up this year after being down in 2024. Probably not a coincidence? But I'm gonna read more into this.
Are there any good articles on this from 20-21? I moved here after that and have heard that people were disappeared but have never really seen reporting on it

Of all the housing charts not made by MMI, this one is my favourite. It shows how, despite rhetoric, housing shortages aren't a global phenomenon, but they do seem to be an Anglo-American one.
When David Brooks is your youngest balding white guy, it's probably time to rethink the segment
On one shoulder: maybe we let our racism and toxic ideology cloud our judgment? On the other: maybe we haven't gone far enough?

At least they're covering both sides.
