Literary horror in the woods. Life assembled from found footage. Crawford & Shirley Jackson Award Nominee. Greener Pastures, The Inconsolables. Debut novel The October Film Haunt 9/30/25 from St. Martin's Press.
Pinned
Now available in bookstores and libraries everywhere! The October Film Haunt is my debut novel and a love letter to horror films and all of us who carry them in our hearts. And, if I may say so, pretty damned scary.

Sappier stuff after I visit a bookstore.

@michaelwehunt.bsky.social, just wrapped (ha?) October Film Haunt, and what a ride. Super engaging and I actually got weepy on Coleman’s last chapter. Definitely held me hard during the whole run.

No, I don’t think I want to belong, if you know what I mean. ❤️

I just finished reading The October Film Haunt this morning and really enjoyed it; one of the best horror novels I've ever read. I also liked that much of the book takes place in Hinesburg, VT (home of that great writer, Daniel Mills) and makes reference to the "Mills farmhouse." Nice!

It reaches in even as it strains outward - this is truly unsettling, a shadow come to life, a slasher/cult/paranoidiac/demonical genre remix in gorgeous, patient prose.
Absolutely shoving this book in people's faces and shouting from the rooftops, thank you @michaelwehunt.bsky.social!

My initial response: It's a stone new classic :)
It’s my birthday, and The October Film Haunt was just born. It’s inevitable that I drop an obvious shameless hint.

- Macabre Daily: “The best horror book of 2025”
- Vulture: One of the “16 Best Horror Books of 2025 (So Far)”
- Geek Rage: "A strong contender for *the* epic horror novel of the 2020s"
