Also stupefying about space data centers:
- Shock/Vibe: launch is like slamming your phone on the ground repeatedly for minutes
- Radiation: high energy particles require shielding, special IC architecture
- Repairability: duh!
- Reliability: see above
- Obsolescence: compute HW gets old fast

Bezos and Musk didn't invest in WaPo or Twitter to make money.

Any analysis that views these investments thru that lens is farcical. It's not about money at all.

It is a siege of power; a pawn on a chessboard; prestige; control; ego stroking; narcissism.

Fuck Groundhog's Day. WhyTF aren't people loosing their minds over this?

Bribes. In broad daylight.
Foreign countries are bribing our president to sell out the American people.

Trump family businesses made $187 MILLION from this deal, and just months later he gave the UAE some of our most top-secret AI tech.

They are selling our national security to the highest bidder.

I was a White House ethics lawyer.

I used to advise people not to even accept a free cup of coffee from someone who had interests before them. And staff followed those rules.

I can’t even find the words to describe the scale of Trump’s corruption here.

The financial underpinnings of OpenAI are blatantly obfuscated and scammy. I read this article several times and was like... "Huh? Wha???"

But, there is a key theme: Nvidia is distancing itself from OpenAI, and being vocal in doing so.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has privately played down the likelihood the original deal will be finalized, although the two companies will continue to have a close collaboration.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Computing is an extension of human sociology and psychology. Humans create information from nothing. It is inextricably tied to the human condition.
It might also be consistent with the idea that LLMs are cultural technologies, soaking up all of humanity's knowledge such that they are a kind of interactive repository of all human intellectual (and other) history.

Probably my first favorite artist, I remember loving Donna when I was 4-5yrs old! Her songs are immortal to that passage of time. They feel just as current as ever.

I can't even think of a song as sonically inventive, infectious and motherfucking sexy as I Feel Love. 😍
Between 1975 and 1979, Donna Summer released 22 singles, including "Bad Girls," "Hot Stuff," and "I Feel Love."
20 of them went to #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart.
20 out of 22.

Nearly midway through the season, 11.9% of games have been decided by 2 points or fewer.

That would be the highest % in a full season in almost 40 years (1987-88)! 🤯
