He’s not relatively popular among Dems because he’s moderate (and he isn’t, particularly). It’s because he’s the single most implacably anti-Trump major political figure in Democratic politics. This could be mirrored by someone else, but they’d have to, you know, actually do it.

I'm mystified by this GOP push, since conservative women are more likely to have adopted their husband's names than liberal women are; Republicans want women to get married and submit to their husbands; but if their husbands tell them how to vote but they can't because of this [brain melts on desk]
the new Republican talking point is that it's insulting to complain about requiring women to show their birth certificate and passport in order to vote because they're smart enough to figure it out
