When he refused, Lewandowski -- who has zero authority to fire anyone at any time -- tried to fire the pilot IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLIGHT.

I'm mystified by this GOP push, since conservative women are more likely to have adopted their husband's names than liberal women are; Republicans want women to get married and submit to their husbands; but if their husbands tell them how to vote but they can't because of this [brain melts on desk]
the new Republican talking point is that it's insulting to complain about requiring women to show their birth certificate and passport in order to vote because they're smart enough to figure it out

You are one member of a larger coalition. That coalition has a process through which it decides who will lead it. “If you don’t decide to support my guy, I will leave the coalition” is behavior that will destroy the coalition, weaken yourself, and ultimately lead to worse outcomes than participating
Hey maybe the dems should learn a lesson and not run "moderate" Dems who are actually just republicans
The reason people are concerned about lefties saying “I won’t vote for a moderate Dem” isn’t because they want Newsom. It’s because lefties keep not voting for moderate Dems!

I think all the scolding about it being years til the primary would hit a little harder if WE DIDN’T JUST GO THROUGH THIS

To my eyes, what is clearly happening is that the left has this cartoonish stereotype of a “moderate Dem” who is indistinguishable from, like, Joe Lieberman. And they substitute different prominent Dems into that role regardless of how they actually are. Joe Biden! Gavin Newsom! Hillary Clinton!

Again there is a process for this, it’s called a presidential primary. “Well I didn’t get what I wanted in the primary - good luck, suckers!” achieves absolutely nothing
so: either pick a different person, or strategize around not having my vote. but you can't have it both ways where i *have* to vote for your candidate but *also* that confers no obligation on said candidate to persuade me to vote for them. this is ostensibly still a liberal democracy!

I have no idea what you’re talking about. What rules? Joe Biden campaigned (and governed) significantly to the left of where he was probably naturally inclined, in an effort to keep allies like Warren and Sanders happy. But ultimately the left is a minority of Dems, it will compromise more.
The Rules of Centrism dictate that only progressives ever have to compromise on a candidate.

No matter how many people may hate a Centrist candidate, the Centrist is under no obligation to shift their support to someone with broader appeal.

and to be clear, this position is not at all mutually exclusive with my view on ICE, which is that Democrats' highest priority should be ensuring the agency is dismantled completely, and that the people who turned it into a violent gang which murdered and kidnapped my neighbors are held responsible

This site will never admit that the left is way over its skis here, because you cannot be Cool On Bluesky and ever offer an iota of criticism of the left. But the normies who make up the vast majority of Dem voters will have absolutely zero patience for this nonsense. It will not end how you think.

A very poor way of reacting to an emergency is to take the other people under threat hostage, and insist that everyone do what YOU want, or you won't help fix the problem. This is rightfully understood as callous, destructive, anti-social behavior. Don't encourage the left to engage in it.

People are mad about an imaginary Gavin Newsom. He vetoed a couple of bills he shouldn't have! But he also signed a slew of trans protections into law. It's absolute batshittery to say he's as bad or worse than Republicans on trans rights.
Do you... know what Republicans are doing to trans people? What?
I absolutely refuse to vote for Gavin Newsom if he’s the nominee in 2028. Shame me all you want, but it just isn’t happening. He won’t protect my trans daughter any better than whoever his Republican counterpart is.
