Underrated thing that's been flying under the radar: ICE's hiring spree, by necessity since there are so few others willing and able, has been hiring away local cops, which infuriates the departments by causing manpower problems and is, ironically, removing the worst of the worst from their ranks.
The more local police see ICE assholes as criminals, the better it will be for us.

Growing up in LA in the 1970s and 1980s, we routinely had smog alert days when we weren’t allowed to have lunch or recess outside. Your eyes would sting all the time and if I played outside my lungs would burn at the end of the day. It’s vastly better now. But I guess that’s woke?

Look fellas, we tried having no SFH-only zoning in one city in the Midwest for approximately 18 months before the Fed started aggressive interest rate hikes and it didn’t immediately result in family-sized condos materializing all over the city, thus YIMBYs are disproven forever.
Part of why I get really annoyed at YIMBYs claiming that non-SFH is illegal to build everywhere is that WE VERY FAMOUSLY ABOLISHED SFH ZONING IN MINNEAPOLIS.
And you know what happened? We got some new apartment construction, and it was good, but it definitely didn’t transform the metro.
