My dad’s from Detroit and we were rooting for the Tigers purely based on nostalgia, but we’re happier that the Mariners won bc of—well, current events.

Also I have another excuse to wear my vintage Mariners merch now! 🔱

Portland City Council member Angelita Morillo humorously criticizes Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, leading to laughter from CNN's Boris Sanchez.

Like I said: Kristi Noem is a liar, has no honor, and we are lucky that we have a proud protest tradition that shows this administration we are not backing down. 🫡🐸🐔

“Praying at Burgerville,“ a new memoir from Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast

I haven’t had Face Plant yet but I know I’d be down on my knees for that, too.

Guys I’m gonna be completely honest…

I’m not religious but I totally get it. I thank god for my Burgerville order, too. Especially the rosemary shoestring fries and marionberry shakes. That shit deserves a little praise.

This goal marks the first time I have EVER heard the crowd cheering all the way from my apartment up the hill from Providence Park. That was LOUD!

Update as of 4:30pm

Temporary Restraining Order against the feds has been granted. The judge did not find evidence that the military or the guard need to be brought in because the protests in Portland have been relatively calm.

Aggression is coming from federal agents and right wing provocateurs

Still no decision from a federal judge on deploying troops to Portland. Meanwhile, protesters at the ICE facility are getting tear gassed by federal agents in broad daylight.

Court is adjourned but no decision was immediately made. Judge says she hopes to issue a decision later today or tomorrow. More soon.

The story is what it is, but I’d like to appreciate the beautiful photos by my friend Jordan (who is actually a Portland resident, unlike the reporter)

FWIW I wanted to take the bus back but the next 15 arrived in 30 minutes. It was already 10:30 and it was cold and rainy. I didn’t mind spending the $12 to get across the river and up my steep hill.

This happened because my Uber driver was speeding on Burnside, running deep yellow and red lights, and was distracted by his phone.

Everyone’s fine but I just got out, walked up the hill, and requested a refund. What a lovely transportation system we have.

Except that my Uber rear ended another car in front of the West Burnside Taco Bell last night and I didn’t get a quesadilla in the aftermath

A total about-face by Metro Chamber and allies, trying to repeal the portrait of Portland crime they drew up during the post-COVID years, when it seemed politically advantageous.

Now, the crime narratives are “outdated,” because the people who constructed them decided so. Sleight of hand.
