The Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cookie was the perfect antidote to the Great Depression: in a single, inexpensive, hand-held serving, it contained the very richness and comfort that millions of people were forced to live without in the late 1930s. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/oluwlN
Yeah but at least we kicked that one transgender student off the high school volleyball team, huh www.nytimes.com/2025/10/26/u...
Love starting my week with a popped blood vessel in my head
If the Smithsonian still exists in 50 years, this needs to be front and center at any exhibit on this era
One thing that is clear from the kicker to this excellent WSJ story on the WH ballroom is that Trump himself can't believe how easy it is to run roughshod over rules and traditions.

There's probably a metaphor in there somewhere.

Oh, and the end of the game.

Not spiking the ball to reset leads to an intentional grounding penalty and a 10 second runoff, forcing a Hail Mary that ACTUALLY WORKS….and it’s still a quarter of an inch short of the end zone.

Sure. Why not.
MIZZOU WAS ONE YARD SHORT OF THE HAIL MARY 😱

Vandy comes out with the win 🔥
This fanbase talks about respect all the time. If you want respect, win some of these games. Because until then, the people who dismiss you as fraudulent may have a point.
But those days are over. Mizzou is now just as talented as the big dogs of the SEC and more talented than most of the conference. You need to win these games. Twice in the last three weeks, Mizzou has outplayed a Top 10 team and lost the game in a year with CFP aspirations.
He’s 1-9 against Top 10 teams and (I believe) 7-16 against Top 25 teams since he’s been at Mizzou.

A lot of those losses were early in his tenure when he was rebuilding and upgrading the talent level of the roster. I can forgive pretty much all of those.
Bama was one thing, but this is as sick as I’ve felt after a Mizzou loss in a long time. The playcalling, the missed opportunities, the circumstances, the injury to Beau, all of it is just sickening.

And we need to talk about the elephant in the room: Drink’s record against ranked teams
And a lot of respect to Matt Zollers for coming in under those circumstances and giving Mizzou a shot to win. You can see why he was a 5* in high school. Made one mistake on the fumbled handoff, but other than that, was as sharp as the Mizzou offense has looked in weeks.
Positives: the Corey Battoon critics can stay quiet for a little while. A remarkable job by the defense to contain Pavia and the Vandy attack. Had you shown me Mizzou’s defensive stats before the game, I would have been extremely confident in a win.
Officiating isn’t THE reason Mizzou lost yesterday but anyone acting like this stuff didn’t significantly impact the game is being disingenuous. Crews need to be held accountable for stuff like this.
Here’s Daylan Carnell getting tackled on Vandy’s TD run following the missed field goal. No call.

Pass interference on an uncatchable ball that led to the game winning score. Blatant offsides on Vandy knocking over Tollison that should have been a free play. Two bogus tripping calls
Five trips inside the Vanderbilt 35 resulted in just 10 points. When you can’t rely on your kicking game to make anything beyond a chip shot, you have to adjust your play calling.
(And, based on some of Drink’s comments earlier this week, I think he might fall into the ‘anyone’ category here)
I can’t disagree with anyone who’s done with Kirby Moore after this game. I think his play designing and scheming has been sound, but he just doesn’t seem to have a feel for the flow of a game and tries to overthink his play calls as a result, just like he did there.
What I absolutely DO have an issue with is calling a pass play on third and goal from the same spot right before, and more importantly, not having Hardy or Roberts touch the ball when you just needed two yards.

That is coaching malpractice.
To start: I don’t have an issue with the 4th and goal fake toss run with Pribula. That’s been Mizzou’s bread and butter goal line play for the last couple of years, it has worked countless times. Vandy got just enough push and stopped it.
[sigh] Let’s talk about it.
