Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things.

WWII movies hit different now. A generation that sacrificed everything to defeat fascism came home and built a better world for us. And here we are, throwing it all away while hardly anyone is paying attention. It’s heartbreaking.
Imagine being GRRM and waking up every morning and going to bed every night knowing that if you don’t get your ass in fucking gear, Season 8 of Game of Thrones is the only ending your life’s work will ever have. Haunting.

We did good by our country today. Things may get worse before they get better, but we will prevail. One day like today at a time. #NoKings

Well, it’s not all I’m saying. That would be incorrect. But that’s one of many angles on this I believe strongly in.

All I’m saying is, cede a little ground on this part of the issue and we might be able to actually get something done to keep your classroom safer. Bans don’t address the problem. It wouldn’t for another half century or more for the millions of guns in circulation already to be out of commission.
October 4, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Worrying about my kids in a classroom of course is always on my mind. But I’m also worried about defending them from lawlessness in the event our Democracy falls. “Someone breaking into my home” is no longer the most extreme scenario most of us can envision.

Our institutions have weakened. Any gun ban policy doesn’t change the fact that there are more guns than people. That cat is out of the bag. Right now gun ownership is concentrated on one side of the political spectrum and we need to be aware of how dangerous that is right now.
October 4, 2025 at 3:11 PM
We need to provide subsidies/tax credits for gun storage. We need to look at measures that restrict access to those who are a danger to society, but balance them with the reality that it’s our constitutional right to own one.

I’m not going to fall for your Michael Dukakis trap. People are doing all this shit because they are in distress and the American dream is gone. We need to invest money in health care and housing to make life more affordable for people.

I am a father of two that is very concerned about school shootings and public safety.

I am a firmly progressive liberal.

I think it’s both unconstitutional and a genuinely bad idea to ban assault weapons.

The final boss for MAGA will be the democratic socialists. Might not be for another decade, but they’re coming.

People are taking “Trump 3rd term” stuff way too seriously. Biden declined quite rapidly from the age Trump is now to the end of his term. I just don’t see it. I wish him good health though, because we need to keep that ratfucker Vance out of the Oval Office at all costs.

I like it when Paul Thomas Anderson is very clear about the content of his films.

Q: Can I expect to see any blood in this picture?
A: THERE WILL BE BLOOD

Q: Does your new film feature any battles? And if so, to what frequency?
A: ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER

Any other President would’ve been impeached over 104730295729350262066295739 things by now.

Norms aren’t enough to sustain democracy.

The real issue I’m getting at is authenticity: sticking to poll-tested scripts, avoiding long-form engagement, and overthinking what basic category someone belongs to as opposed to their ideas, how well they can communicate them, and how well they’d actually do the job makes us look fake.

I don’t think she’s wrong or that you’re wrong for a certain segment of voters, but that segment isn’t decisive. Swapping in two milquetoast straight white guys wouldn’t have changed the outcome.

I was digging Kamala’s book until she said that America isn’t ready for a gay VP on the same ticket as a black-woman President. The box-checking mindset of twenty years ago is precisely why liberals lose so fucking always.

Maybe it’s the rose colored glasses I’m looking through now. But I think if you give McCain that four year term from 08-12, they own the messy recovery from the financial crisis and we don’t lose so many blue collar voters between 2008 and 2016. The inevitable populism wave might’ve been a blue one.
September 24, 2025 at 3:02 AM
It’s your second point of the downside that is particularly terrifying to me. Watching the weak-minded be so enthralled with how “normal” he seemed in the VP debate made me sick.
September 24, 2025 at 2:54 AM
Haha that’s true. But even as a Barack fan and the progress he made, I sometimes wonder looking at where we are today if we’d be better off now had McCain won.

Trump might be the worst thing that’s ever happened to this country, but Vance being a heartbeat from the Presidency terrifies me more than anything else right now.
