Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I think much of the bingeing novelty wore off for good during Covid people were like “we can wait another week for this we are not that busy we live on the computer sure but there are 100 shows” then the industry struggled to adjust for almost half a decade now

I really think that many people watching an entire season of a critically acclaimed buzz-heavy show only for their entire family and friend group to be like “wow never heard of it” has left the industry frantic to find a new ER (trying it now!) and Friends (good luck)

I think the success where nostalgia is concerned is on a talented creator/team who are mining what worked for them and competently tailoring it to an atomized audience who yearn to not be the only person who’s heard of the one show they like.

my controversial take is that high potential is a mediocre show using a trusted format but with the perfect star who should have won an Emmy years ago and it’s mainly the latter part that has leveled it up
