* In the 1860s, candy-pulls were THE place for young people to hang out in certain rural communities. There are endless tales of romance and broken hearts and fights and straight-up murders that occurred in the excitement. Very "kids these days don't know how to behave" but over candy.

* You know how Van Halen had a contract rider demanding bowls of M&Ms with the brown ones removed?

They later claimed that was all a test to make sure venues were reading their contracts. Clever!

BUT WAIT, that claim itself is actually false. I fact-checked it.

Biden granted mercy to most everyone on federal death row before leaving office. Trump retaliated by putting them in some of the harshest conditions of longterm isolation that American prisons can impose.

Contra the latest NYT bit - SO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE at rallies and protests in NC. And brave ones - when they and their parents are the ones being profiled and dragged out of their cars, churches, grocery stories, school parking lots.
This is one of my Duke students. High schoolers spoke as well.

Teaching an 11/12th grade sci-fi/mystery/horror class, and there's basically no curriculum for the mystery horror part. Any recs for short stories besides Holmes/Christie/King that are school-appropes?

Or a TV episode that deploys clues especially well? That doesn't involve a cartoon dog?
