Fahrenheit was composed from vibes by a 16th century scientist who tried to arbitrarily make a number scale from the freezing point of seawater to human body temperature. Celsius is based on the energy of raising a certain amount of water one degree. One of those is far more useful for engineering.
Celsius is the scientist temperature measurement in that it’s the most conceptually coherent , Fahrenheit is the engineer temperature measurement in that it’s actually optimized to be useful for it’s main use case of communicating everyday temperatures.
