TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

Hah, I lived only a bit away from the road. Over on Slaughter Lane. Google maps was saying it correctly when I moved to MD; I wonder if it still is.

I think you may need an entire massage therapist appointment to help. I know I do.

Check out Amanda’s Mild Takes on TikTok or Substack. That’s how I stay relatively focused these days. Because it’s…a…lot. (Under the Desk News is another place I go to. Both validate my feelings in different ways, and I find that extremely helpful, personally.)

Another day on this planet down. And another day of being that childless cat lady that many men hate and fear for reasons that require them going into therapy to unpack.

You know how even the tiniest bit of matter in your eye can make you tear up and not be able to see until you get it out of your eye?

I think about this a lot when I feel small for whatever reason.

Ooft. That’s rough. Hoping for the best outcome possible for y’all.

I am one of those burdened by sugar alcohol intolerance, so I stick to 2 max pieces a day, myself. (And if it's maltitol, I avoid entirely -- that stuff messes me up big-time!) Thankfully most gums use the less impactful sugar alcohols.

If you don't have TMJ issues or sugar alcohol reactions, sugarfree gum is awesome for after meals on the go.

Made some yummy chicken stir-fry for lunch. Offset the computer woes that began the work day to some degree.

But again, easier to take in stride when I've started the day doing something I wanted to do for myself.

I had six holds at the library for several weeks now.

Guess what?

They're all coming at me at once. Heh. I'll be over here listening to audiobooks all weekend, apparently.

When people make things up so that they can say something like "Look what you made me do!" -- they were always going to do that anyway, plus NO, what THEY did is on THEM, not you.

The past couple of weeks or so have seen me getting up and not immediately starting “the get to work” routine. Instead I do something purely for myself.

The amount of calm that has entered my life with this one change is amazing. And the trick is that it CANNOT be an “I should” item.

On this fine International Coffee Day, I hope those who imbibe celebrated well — and then some because sources say the price of coffee has gone up 20% in the past year.

My food budget hurts, let me tell you.

So much this! It’s awesome to be reminded that there’s a learning curve. (I did the same thing with drums.)

I once had this really creepy holiday cat doll that I'd put out for the winter festivities. I'm kind of sad that I gave it away during one of my purges years ago. Here's hoping someone else is enjoying its creepiness!
