I’m shocked that this much air traffic doesn’t go through a huge swath of eastern Europe because of an old, megalomaniac dictator.

I am laughing. My agency has a Toxics Cleanup Program division and a Toxic Studies Unit. One of them has a networking event invite and it was titled “Toxic Networking”. 😂

Look at how simple that bill would be but how it would benefit half of the population who goes through this shit that still none of my docs has ever asked me about (I’m almost 50).
This bill is just a carrot to give double continuing education credit to physicians to learn about perimenopause & menopause healthcare. It also requires insurers to cover appropriate care.
My low dosage hormone replacement brought my hip bone density up quickly. Everyone should know about options
"...Newsom has vetoed our menopause bill, not one but two years in a row. But that's OK, because he's not going to be governor forever. And with the way he's overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either."

And one more thing to complain about. I appreciate that he has highlighted how weird and awful our current leader is, but 1) he used to be with Don Trump Jr’s partner (wife? ex wife?), 2) He’s thrown trans folks under the bus and 3) this ⬇️

On the earthquake that wasn’t, I know people will be angry about this but, for an alert app, a false positive is better than a false negative.

I just started using Qobuz for music streaming and the selection is so much better than on Spotify or YouTube music if you’re into more old school indie type rock. And the playlists are also so much better. Spotify can suck it.

Best news I’ve read all month.
Microsoft cuts AI sales quotas as customer adoption lags and stock performance dips.

I don’t use Spotify anymore because reasons. But I do use Youtube music (which I probably also wouldn’t use anymore due to similar reasons). If you like weird combos of music, I’m your gal.

‪What’s wild is people are losing their shit over war crimes but the GOP has never batted an eye over people being snatched off of the street by masked, unnamed ICE agents and tortured or disappeared. What a time to be alive. 😣

Wow
Multiple large natural experiments have documented Shingles vaccine is linked with ~20-25% reduced risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. A new report today adds to that and extends the to slowing the progression of dementia @cellcellpress.bsky.social

FYI as you head into the holiday season:

Shopify is a Canadian company, but its CEO Tobi Lütke is Maple MAGA in both words & monetary support (under the guise of “free speech” & “open commerce”).
Really beginning to hate Shopify, they are doing a lot to make shopping shittier lately

I love you, Costco. One of the only corporations that doesn’t buckle against the madness of this administration. 💙
Costco Wholesale has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, asking the Court of International Trade to consider all tariffs collected under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act unlawful.
Costco sues the Trump administration, seeking a refund of tariffs
The wholesaler is the latest company to file a lawsuit against a federal agency over the president's signature economic policy.

That took awhile. Dang.
The source of the Olympic Pipeline leak has been found & fuel should be flowing to SEA again soon. While this should alleviate some flight disruptions, travelers should monitor the status of their flights.

Whoa. I don’t have any tattoos only because I’ve never come up with anything I actually want permanently on my body. But with a family history of blood cancer, I think I’ll keep being boring. 🤯

Oh wow, this is like my work up here (nitrates in groundwater) and my least favorite new topic (AI data centers guzzling water) combining into an awful news story. I think maybe it’s time to subscribe to RS. Y’all are doing great investigative journalism. 🙏
How Oregon’s Data Center Boom Is Supercharging a Water Crisis

This is a little over a mile from my house. Thankfully, we are significantly upgradient of it, but oof, it’sa very bad spot for a spill. Extremely permeable soil in a flood plain during the wet season. 😩
I continue to monitor the Olympic Pipeline leak in Snohomish County. I'm receiving regular updates while BP searches for the source. I'm also working with the Port, elected leaders, & others to determine what federal relief can be leveraged to bring more fuel into SEA & minimize flight disruptions.

Currently trying to finish this Sophie scarf I started last year. It's not a huge piece but it feels like a slog for some reason. At least I have passed the halfway mark. #showmeyourknits

FYI
Washington just adopted new rules to reduce PFAS – “forever chemicals” – in everyday products.

The rule limits PFAS in apparel, cleaning products, and car washes, and requires reporting for more categories so consumers get clearer information.
