Did he mention ”looking again” at interpretation of international law, esp. with regards to asylum, then, or was it in a different speech?

Some good news.

London is meeting legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time – almost 200 years earlier than predicted – following the Mayor’s "world leading air pollution policies," City Hall announces.

The Ultra Low Emissions Zone - and similar policies - really do work.

I still can't quite believe that the very first attacks from Labour on Farage's bonkers idea to kick millions of people with INDEFINITE right to remain out of the UK were to argue that it's infeasible and wouldn't save anything like the amount he claimed.

How about:
- It's WRONG
- It's IMMORAL

The H1-B visas aren’t just for tech workers either. They’re also, for example, used by universities to hire tenure-track faculty and especially in STEM fields, ie neither cheap nor indentured (except to the extent the label would apply to all new hires in higher ed).
reichlinmelnick.bsky.social
The claim that people on H-1B are "cheap indentured servants" is just complete nonsense. The median wage paid to a person on an H-1B visa is $120,000 a year.

Section 2.9 – Approved Petitions by Annual Compensation and
Education
Of all the H-1B petitions approved in FY 2024, beneficiaries with professional degrees had the
highest median compensation ($200,000). Beneficiaries with doctorate degrees had the lowest
median compensation ($99,000), while beneficiaries with bachelor’s degrees had a median
compensation of $116,000. Beneficiaries with professional degrees also had the widest
distribution of incomes. Twenty-five percent of all beneficiaries’ incomes were at $90,000,
while 25 percent of all beneficiaries’ incomes reached $159,000. Professional degrees include
medical and law degrees, among others. See Appendix D, Table 11.
Figure 13. Annual Compensation of H-1B Beneficiaries by Level of Education, FY 2024

This figure shows 25th Percentile, 50th percentile, and 75th percentile broken down by Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, Doctorate, Professional Degree, and all Beneficiaries. For all beneficiaries, it's $90,000 at the 25th percentile, $120,000 at the 50th percentile, and $159,000 at the 75th percentile. For the individual breakdowns, the 25th percentile ranges from around $70,000 for a doctorate to just under $100,000 for a Master's Degree. The 50th percentile ranges from a low of just under $100,000 for a doctorate to $200,000 for a professional degree, and the 75th percentile ranges from a low of just under $150,000 for a doctorate to nearly $300,000 for a professional degree.

Fascinating “…theory that the brain uses rem sleep to “learn” the body”
newyorker.com
Neuroscientists have long believed that our bodies are paralyzed during REM sleep to prevent us from acting out our dreams, and the twitches we make are movements that slip through the cracks—but recent research tells another story.
What Are Dreams For?
Converging lines of research suggest that we might be misunderstanding something we do every night of our lives.
