I have to admit: James Dobson in the #EpsteinFiles is not something I had on my Bingo card. He wasn't a direct predator but it seems he *was* a resource for them.

Robert Evans underestimated it when he called Dobson a bastard.

Dobson was definitely one of the demi-gods often quoted in my fundamentalist evangelical upbringing in the 1980s. He's definitely a contributor to my leaving organized religion and never returning. Once you let yourself think rationally, these views are immoral and just crazy.

James Dobson is in the Epstein files, per the vital research of homeschool alum @dlmayfield.bsky.social.

This is good. CT needs to have some regulations put in because some of these kids are not getting adequate education. I know this from experience.

No-fault divorce is a public good and is abuse prevention. It is linked to declines in domestic violence (against and by both genders), female suicide (around 20%), and women murdered by intimate partners.

Defend it shamelessly.

Pretty rich of Tim Whitaker to claim something is “an unaccountable movement” when he took no accountability for the abuse allegations against himself in the exvangelical movement.

nobody saying 'dont monitor or regulate homeschooling' deserves the benefit of the doubt

sorry not sorry

you can think homeschooling is cool! thats fine! but if youre not an abusive freak then some barebones rules - some kind of system to make sure kids are safe and learning - should be obvious
Homeschool alum Amy Buchmeyer speaks of a "diverse and growing cohort of people who have firsthand experience with homeschooling." Yes, and that cohort overwhelmingly supports homeschool oversight because of our personal experiences of abuse or knowing abused homeschooled kids.
In Defense of Homeschool Families
In the aggregate, homeschoolers are overwhelmingly proving that neither traditional public schooling nor government regulation is necessary for children to thrive both academically and socially.

Periodic reminder that spanking is — without even a hint of exaggeration — sexual abuse. You would absolutely recognize that if an adult man non-consensually spanked an adult woman. Spanking a child is worse in literally every way. Just because the law doesn't say it doesn't mean it's not so.

It’s mostly schools that identify and intervene in child abuse cases. Teachers and counselors are trained to see the signs. Take away the schools and these kids have no oversight or protection.

I’m always a bit surprised to hear/read this sentiment because who does anyone think is committing the abuse?
February 2, 2026 at 5:26 PM
I get the sentiment, but I disagree. Adults have shrugged their shoulders at the abuse of children since the beginning of human history. That shouldn't make you hopeless. It should wake you up. It should motivate you to make changes in your own life, family, and community.

Definitely no parental rights for families separated by Trump and ICE, either.
“Parents rights groups” is such a hilarious term.

Let a parent want to get their kid puberty blockers and all of a sudden, parents don’t know what’s best.
