A few days ago, one of the juvenile Great Horned Owls was sitting in the rain, outside of my house, staring in the window. The structure of its face makes it appear unhappy about sitting out in the cold rain.

A tightly cropped photo of the head of a juvenile great horned owl. The beak is in the centre of the photo, the owl is starting straight into the camera. The feathers are fuzzy with water droplets on the end of some on the fringes. The owl appears to be grumpy.

This is an example of continuance commitment. People remain at organizations because the cost of leaving is too high. Feeling trapped in an organization generally leads to poor outcomes.

When Fox News lies, people die | We explain on PBS Newshour how the antiscience disinformation spread by the Murdoch media empire and especially Fox News, likely lead to hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths in the U.S. And that's just COVID-19. Their fossil fuel disinformation is as deadly.

"Pedestrians have the right of way in a crosswalk unless a peace officer or traffic control device directs otherwise. This means that even if the crosswalk is unmarked, vehicles must stop and yield to pedestrians."

100% the driver's fault.

It's not a surprise. Too many people refuse to be aware of their prejudices.

I grew up in the USA and would not use that label. It is a racist and class-based term.

Nelson and Chilliwack fit those two activities.

A city of what population size? Chilliwack, BC is a nice balance between city and mountains. Cumberland, Squamish, Nelson, Vernon are all worth considering.

Fantastic story on our homepage this morning about the race to find a polio vaccine, written by a polio survivor happy that she has become a “dinosaur” of the time before we had one. Worth your while: www.thebulwark.com/p/polio-vacc...
The Polio Vaccine Was a Miracle—and We Must Not Forget It
As a polio survivor, I am a dinosaur today. My great hope is that our country’s living memory of the disease ends with my generation.
