(although i remember being salty we never fight neo metal in his 'base' form, like he immediately transforms into big monster... and i was like... but caped metal sonic is so cool...)

umm... Black Doom was later on a main villain in a really good game that was not this one. so that's cool. I would've never expected that. umm... all the 300+ story permutations having different edgelord names is funny? I'm running out of compliments. I really don't have any more nice things to say

Shadow: the CG pre-rendered cutscenes look out of this world amazing and hold up still today. I love how Shadow's eyes in those have a slight "backlit screen" quality to them? Sometimes when he's in shadow or covered by a dark fog you can still see his eyes, like a cartoon character. That's so good.

uhh nice things to say about these games

Heroes: the stages often look really pretty, I'm way less annoyed and a little more charmed by all the mid-stage dialogue. the fact that you can spam Chaotix's Team Blast over and over again in the "Enemy Rush" bosses and get 999 Rings is really fun & funny

I may have been revisiting a lot of 2000s Sonic this past year and have gained new appreciation and perspective for past games and even the anime...

...but I don't think there's anything I can say about Heroes or Shadow. these are just not good games. I'm sorry...

mediablastersinc:
Sorry for any confusion but let’s make it clear, we are releasing GARO in the future and we are actually starting with Kiba, Taiga, Red Requiem, Wailing Dragon and Under the Moon.
Actually just starting to figure out the configuration, extras and the like so no clue yet.

oh man definitely try A Link Between Worlds on the 3DS, preferably with a save file so you can start on Hero Mode right from the getgo

i was looking at the list of episodes and unfortunately the skippable season 1 episodes are more like 50% rather than 90... i would reeeeally only recommend it if you're like "I love Sonic and I would like to see more of these characters especially in funny lighthearted situations"

I finished watching seasons 1 and 2 of Sonic X!

I was completely unprepared for the last 3 episodes to be incredibly sentimental, with the last 3 minutes of the final episode making me bawl like a baby. I really don't know how to talk about this series. For the love of god don't watch the 4Kids dub

Like, is a huge part of it really dull & aimless? Yes. Does 95% of the animation look like they didn't have enough budget? Yes. But then sometimes it hits you with really fantastic reads of these characters, really great comedy, and Episode 52 which is some of the best writing in the entire series

Episode 52 really makes you wish the whole show was like this, a glimpse into what they could've done had they be able to have given their all throughout the show. I'm still sobbing thinking about it. If you're a "SonAmy shipper", jesus, there is nothing you could ask more than that episode.

I wrote a long article about Rieko Kodama, her career at Sega, the evolution of her company, the games she worked on (including some canceled games and/or games for which she is not credited), the status of women and working conditions in the video game industry, etc.

Illustration: a portrait of Rieko Kodama with some of the games she has worked on. The dominant colors are yellow, purple and red. Counterclockwise from top left: Rieko Kodama, Alis and Lutz from Phantasy Star, Sonic in a maze, Alex Kidd and his motorbike next to Flicky on a waterfront pier, Joe Musashi and his dog near the Statue of Liberty facing a skyline, the three playable characters from Golden Axe seen from behind on the edge of a cliff, and one of the flying ships from Skies of Arcadia.
