"a study in how people can curate a public persona that has no bearing to their actual mentality or skillset."
My god. I can’t believe once a upon a time people would quote Michael Shermer as a rationalist. He even cites Tim Pool (in the thread below). It’s quite a study in how people can curate a public persona that has no bearing to their actual mentality or skillset.
The publisher of "Skeptic Magazine" thinks if you get murdered by agents of the government in the act of protest, it's your fault for just not staying home.

if you want to know what it is like in minneapolis, I don’t even have to scroll on facebook to find a horror story. it’s basically my whole feed.

everyone i know in minneapolis is seeing ICE take people—at gas stations, taquerias, bus stops, schools. just snatching random people.

It’s beyond insane that our overarching internal security agency has spent months tweeting barely-coded messages of support for neo-Nazi groups and the entire media apparatus looks at it and says “That’s odd but certainly not part a major story that is relevant to current events, I’m sure”

There are establishment calls from the UK for the US to be 'given' Greenland. Greenlanders seem quite clear on the subject.

I might start posting what I think is big news that could have slipped by:

The USA just withdrew from a whole load of international co-operation, including military/cyber co-operation.

One of the things you learn if you spend any time in the orbit of Labour is they have a large tranche of people who think it is weird to care about anything other than the fortunes of the Labour party. Unfortunately this tranche is running the country now which explains a few things.
A justifiably scathing conclusion to a justifiably scathing newsletter from @stephenkb.bsky.social today (I also love his observation that this government can’t tell “barnacle from boat”).

Jones says he won't give a view on the action & he goes on to say its not up to politicians to make judgements on international law. Phillips points out thats exactly what they've done on Ukraine

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.
