My pet theory of the decline of certain big franchises is that they don't/didn't whore themselves out to spin-offs like Mario does.

We should have Halo Wars 4, ODST 3 and probably should have some Warthog focused something.

Every iteration being the biggest thing? people fall out of the franchise.

I assume eventually at least a few companies will figure out that spin-offs can be kinda low rent since the people buying them are probably super fans and start making them again, but it's sure taking a while

The majority of gamers are the your coworker who buys a sports game a multiplayer shooter and maybe one AAA thing that catches there are.

Even then some of those may be a live service game like Fortnite or Valorant.

I've had a bunch of convos with people where a lot of Video Game music now-a-days is trying to sound like Hollywood/video game music.

Video Game music back then was a bunch of people who were mainlining what was at they clubs or in there record collection.
