Unpopular opinion, but I wish it had been an all-rain event, followed by normal January (~45) weather - would have helped with the drought, washed away all the salt, and left the streets, bike lanes, and trails nice and clean.
From the Capital Weather Gang - it was as much moisture as the biggest storms of the last few decades, just most of it was ice and sleet

Pretty much any sandwich from Farmhouse Exchange off Rt. 15 in northern Frederick County MD.
To all members of #SandwichSky, what sandwich are you carrying in the secure briefcase?

This is bonkers. Having lived in Columbia Heights for 20 years, I honestly don't miss the drama, the chaos, the noise. It's always something!
A+ neighborhood level drama in Columbia heights, In which a local bar owner doesn't like the rulings of the advisory neighborhood commissioner. so he just declares himself commissioner

I asked ChatGPT to compare the size of Chesapeake Bay to the Great Lakes, and to overlay a map of it onto the Great Lakes region. This is the result. Yikes!

"Well, at least it's not actively bleeding!" is something I find myself saying/thinking more often as I get older, and have various health troubles with teeth, ears, skin, etc. #aging #GenX

There were two Space Force personnel in Mt. Vernon Square Metro station this morning, and I wondered if they were thinking "this isn't what I signed up for when I became a missile technician".
I feel embarrassed for these guys. Trump took them from their homes and sent them to DC to pick up trash

Just 15 for me. I don't like flying, and it's terrible for the environment. Many of the car trips I've avoided over the years could be cancelled out by a few cross-country flights, I believe. If only we had more high-speed rail in the US!
How many y’all have visited? I’m up to 14

As a child, I sat in the front seat of the car (seatbelt off) and "helped" my dad drive, by shifting, adjusting the AM radio, second pair of eyes on the road, as he gave me driving tips. Seatbelt aside, I think this made me a better/safer driver as an adult.
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?

Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Or how we had to pick a spot to meet at the theater BEFORE we went.

How much energy does it take to generate one ChatGPT request? What about water use and the broader climate impact of generative AI? UCS’s José Pablo Ortiz breaks it down, and explains why we need smart policy to guide this tech. Read the blog:
What Are the Environmental Impacts of Artificial Intelligence?
A single AI-focused data center can use as much electricity as a small city and as much water as a large neighborhood.

Saw Karl Rove driving a Ridgeline into the Honda dealership in Bethesda at the end of the Cap. Crescent Trail. Saw Donald Rumsfeld in Potbelly on CT Ave, Ralph Nader in Woodley Park, and Maureen Dowd in Barnes & Noble - lots of "famous for DC" people.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie
