Vampires top my list for obvious reasons
I also love werewolves, ghosts, and zombies. In that order.

I'm drawing Anti-fascist barnyard animals for every selfie someone posts with my new book.

Yeah, this is just a hand, but I love Comix Experience, and visit when I'm in San Francisco, so I'll count it just this once.

Here's a Protester Pig telling book banners to get their hoofs off our books. 🐖
A shot of the interior of the comics experience bookstore in San Francisco. The wall says new comics and in front of a shelf. Someone is holding up a copy of good old fashioned Korean spirit. My crayon drawing of a cute little cartoon pig holding up a protest sign that says get your hoofs off our books. There are various pig themed books sitting around and the pig says let's take to the streets and stop by comics experience for more comics.

#WeeknightWriters #FirstDraftFall Susi is content with her life, but at the same time, she's prepping to go to college after taking a gap year, so she feels anxious about that.

She gets the job as the on-set nurse for money. Early in the story, she also gets a diagnosis. Susi is autistic.

#WeeknightWriters The protagonist of Drama of the Undead is Susi, Andy's older sister. She's a fairy who gains the powers to heal people, hence why she gets hired to be the on-set nurse.

Gabby is the deuteragonist. She plays the role of Meg Giry in the Phantom production.

#WeeknightWriters With Drama of the Undead, I need to figure out how the minor characters are gonna contribute to the story, plot-wise, and how they can interact with each other and the main character. It really feels like a literal theater production in my head.

#WeeknightWriters Whenever I make a character, I start with personality type stuff like MBTI, Enneagram, and astrology. It all helps me figure out what motivates them (Enneagram), how they process things (MBTI), and how they present themselves (astrology).

Q3: What aspects of character development do you enjoy most? What goes into making a character? #WeeknightWriters
Notepad that says “#WeeknightWriters What aspects of character development do you enjoy most?"

#WeeknightWriters Yeah. Susi's especially someone I have to keep in mind. Since she's an introvert, she can only handle so much socializing before she gets exhausted. On top of socializing, she has to solve a mystery which means actually getting to know people and it's very hard for her.
msocampowrites.bsky.social
#WeeknightWriters I always believe in challenging my characters. I usually try to give my characters a little more than they think they can handle. Sometimes, they rage quit. Sometimes they break down, but they never give up at the end. Does that make sense?

It's gonna have character profiles, a bit of worldbuilding info (as far as who the Vocati are), and a glossary of the foreign words I used. The inspiration for this came from Lei Edrada who made one for her fantasy novel Sea of Blood. Check her out!

#WeeknightWriters I feel like I start with characters in my head and try to make the plot fit the characters' strengths & weaknesses. Example: Drama of the Undead forces the very introverted Susi into a very social line of work. Introverts, please share in solidarity. We've all been there.

#AwesomeCharacters

Jane and Andy definitely change for the better in the course of My Ex is a Vampire. Jane goes from feeling like she has to do everything herself to sharing her burdens. Andy goes from being closed off to being more open.

#AwesomeCharacters Jane’s most compelling trait is her efficiency. Once she sets her mind on something, she's determined to see it through. However, it's hard for her to be vulnerable and my readers have loved how she's not always perfect. I like her compassion.
