Lynn and I watched Train Dreams last night. I'd read the book when it first came out, and then again and really loved it. The movie had great acting and beautiful cinematography. Still, there are just some things fiction can do that can't be reproduced in a film. And what happened to the Wolf Girl?

An important but widely ignored precursor to Hitchcock's Vertigo, Hammer's 1952 horror noir Stolen Face w/ Lisbeth Scott and Paul Henreid is now out on 4k in this beautiful limited edition. Includes my video essay on the film!
Stolen Face Limited Collector's Edition
Film Noir femme fatale Lizabeth Scott gives a searing performance in this macabre melodrama that offers a dark twist on the Pygmalion myth.

A reporter catches Ann Sothern in a grumpy mood, 1947:

“Kissing scenes fun? ‘They're worst of all,’ she says. ‘You have to powder your lips so you won't get lipstick all over the actor. Then you get powder down your throat and you're miserable.’”
