The world wheel spins. Aimless, careless wandering. Chasing shadows; projections of psychophysical attractors. The trickster invites you, "Here! Here!" You will follow.

wow look at this beautiful Solarpunk visual art. so radical and revolutionary. no one has ever thought of integrating greenspace into the modern city in an ecologically friendly way.

Steam should sharply distinguish between AI-generated code and AI-generated assets if only because anti-AI people don't appear to care much about the former. over-reliance on AI-generated code is presumably still bad craftmanship unless and until we achieve AGI, however.

The data on classroom phone bans "working" shows that it makes students more well-behaved and well-disciplined prisoners. I.e. taking away even more autonomy from someone in a total institution makes them even more impotent. This is framed as a novel or unexpected insight because of ideology.

so true we should waste even more resources making things "safer" in ways that are absurd and inefficient. the middle class should live in the padded cell of slop forever as the landfill grows and the homeless suffer as their encampments are raided for not being up to code.
Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides

you are a progressive technocrat who posts all day. your opposition to cultural novelty and new media is more fear of impermanence and neurotic risk-aversion than any sort of principled stance. you have formed a cargo cult around public libraries. you're psychically indistinguishable from a fascist.

me when the fastest growing technology of the 21st century that most people use pervades every sphere of life, sometimes in ways that are less than ideal.

Causal arrow points the other way and of all the proposed AI regulations this is the most likely to violate 1A.
"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

this is not meaningfully different from pornography. in fact it just is pornography. it's disgusting, yes, but so is pornography. and its influence on society will be negligible, since it's just more pornography.

Right, because all consumers are just automotons with no agency or reasoning abilities and will just kill themselves the minute suicide is brought up with scary computer.

It is hysterical to be concerned with starvation in the first world, and to frame your leftism as especially concerned with and a solution to this. Just completely detached from the reality of the postwar world. Starvation and most forms of material deprivation are solved problems. Oversolved even.

Obviously virtue is the only consistent way to live a good life. It's amazing that anyone tacitly believes that mere material wealth and status can bring them any kind of contentment.
I always thought Plato was pretty pollyannaish on this point, but this is decent evidence for the view that a man of bad character will therefore be unhappy even with every external trapping of success and good fortune.
President Donald Trump gifted the world with nearly 200 Truth Social posts (and counting) on Christmas Day, where he amplified conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and called for a member of Congress to be deported.

yeah dude [new thing] is so terrifying. it'd be so bad if we let just anyone use, be, see [new thing]. that's why we need to give venal bureaucrats and vainglorious demagogues even more authority to control and exploit their inferiors. state capacity man.

there is an implicit conception of the human being as basically innocent of their status as the cruelest animal of all and a tendency to project onto external world objects what are all-too-human traits of sadism and selfishness. this is insufficient misanthropy that makes one both stupid and evil.

subliminally prepare yourself for the worst science fiction cosmic horror scenarios conceivable so when the real world continues being suffocatingly mundane and the long 90s last another century or two you feel nothing but gratitude and peace.

software, like everything else, should be built to last and update infrequently, otherwise you inevitably get a brittle rhizome of a dependency graph and significant waste. but currently it's all *Brazil* (1985). hardware isn't any better, granted. i kind of hope GPU/RAM prices continue rising.

I am ultimately a standard deviation more of a shape rotator than a wordcel which is why you should take me seriously when I say that we have too many shape rotators, that they take up too much semiotic space, and that even the logic of shape rotation infects wordcels (physics envy, etc.).
