This is a hilarious example of how conservatism's pretenses to limited government, skepticism of majoritarian rule, seperation of powers, and respect for the constitution was always bullshit. But Hillsdale College in particular is one of the most instructive examples of this phenomenon. A long🧵

An 18yo US citizen, surrounded by eight masked, armed agents of the state, taken into custody, not read his rights, not offered a chance to contact a lawyer, proof of citizenship ignored, handcuffed so tightly he later required medical attention.

Profoundly, profoundly anti-American shit.

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

America's Gestapo continues its spree of violent human trafficking into concentration camps in defiance of court orders.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

Apparently this is about telling soldiers to resist unlawful orders? See linked story. www.cnn.com/2025/11/20/p...

FYI, it is a well-established legal principle that soldiers may (perhaps must) refuse unlawful orders. Couple cites in a subsequent post

All the old guard of the GOP policy establishment breaking the news that Trump's protectionism is a marked trade from Reagan conservatism is hilarious to me. Anyone with basic familiarity with this issue knows this, but GOP voters are so ignorant that Trump correctly thinks he can lie about this.

Ronald Reagan would have abhorred Trump's tariffs. He believed presidents should rein in the Leviathan, not direct markets.

There are many problems with the constitution, but by far the most obviously stupid feature is presidential pardoning power. How the founders did not see this as ripe for abuse is absolutely insane to me.
Those seeking pardons through official channels have watched while Trump grants pardons to people who never entered the system at all.

“If you’re just an average citizen, you can’t even get in the line,” one lawyer said. “I told my guy he’d probably be better off if he broke into the Capitol.”

The president’s second term has brought a flood of clemency for allies and donors — as well as felons, like him, who were convicted of financial wrongdoing.
