“maybe he did not know the full extent of the outrages that were committed in his community, but he knew enough. And we don’t know exactly how ICE will use this warehouse, but we know enough.”
Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

Happy Black History Month 🖤✨

Libraries and books are from perfect. The Dewey Decimal System is imperfect. But we will never forget the work of Dorothy B. Porter. She decolonized the Dewey Decimal System. She helped us belong in libraries, in books.

We celebrate and thank you, Dorothy B. Porter 💜📚

I tip my hat to you, @jonathancapehart.bsky.social, and commend your patience on-air. I just heard your commentary on PBS News Hour, and listening over the radio, I can only imagine your body language matched how frustrated you sounded with the other guest, whoever he was.

From a science communication perspective, I think this is brilliant. You lure folks in with a clip of a cute little tardigrade moseying along, minding its business, then you drop a thread — comprehensible to a layperson — talking about research using tardigrade hardiness to help cancer patients.
Oh to be a little Tardigrade walking across a microscope slide. 🫧🐻🧪

"Choosing hope doesn't mean you ignore the horror. It means you find the will to fight."
I already blocked and nuclear block

I probably should’ve kept it to myself because WE ALL KNOW THIS

but I’m doing witchcraft by the fire and it felt like I should say FUCK THIS NO WE ARE CHOOSING HOPE

And choosing hope doesn’t mean you ignore the horror? It means you find the will to fight

Minnesota can, and should, move to indict the ICE agent who murdered Good when the courts open on Monday.

And the ICE agents who murdered today.

Further delay only increases the chances of more murder.

Re-upping this because, apparently, there's a national blood shortage. I realize not everyone may be able to do this. For folks who are, please consider donating blood (or platelets). 1/
Heck of a Saturday.

If you're looking for something constructive and helpful to do, consider donating blood or platelets in the next few days. It might not seem like much in the grand scheme, but it's something over which you have agency that also makes a world of difference to the recipient. 1/

Americans are realizing that unfettered federal power to detain and arrest is a very dangerous thing. I learned that lesson as a child when they put us into internment camps just for looking like the enemy. Don’t go further down this road.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

This is a very good overview of the financial clusterfuck we’re about to suffer thx to Trump’s insanity re: Greenland. While I am VERY worried about how we’re going to get by if this happens, I have been calling for sanctions like this for 2yrs now since these fucks only abide the $ sign. Let’s GO.

I don't imagine he's on here, but if anyone knows Rob Bamberger, host of Hot Jazz Saturday Night on WAMU, please let him know that he is an absolute gem. His candidness about getting caught up in the musical moment with us as listeners such that he forgot to cue up the next song, it made me smile. 🙂

Tonight, NORAD military jets will be flying over the DC-area as part of the recurring "Falcon Virgo" training exercises. (midnight - 2AM)

Falcon Virgo is a routine exercise, i.e. not new; any claim to the contrary is simply wrong.
