On the other side of this—win or lose—whether the boycotts shift the balance (they do), we’ll be able to tell our people: we did everything possible. We refused to fund the machine that devours the world.

Firing over 100 immigration judges.

Arresting immigrants outside of their immigration hearings.

Pausing asylum decisions.

And now? Cancelling citizenship ceremonies, the final step to becoming a U.S. citizen.

Just remember that Trump never cared about "legal immigration."

One of THE most stressful parts of moving is that my safe foods will have to be completely revamped. Again. Many of my go-tos are HEB-specific, and that grocery store is only in Texas. I'm so glad my dietitian got licensed in Louisiana so she could continue helping me! #ARFID #actuallyautistic

I move in a week. I'm pretty much on schedule despite the hospitalization, but I'm still stressing out. You'd think I'd be used to moving by now! I literally can't count the number of times I've done this.

842,000 Americans died from overdoses in the last 25 years, 500,000 from opioids. If we’re hunting narco-terrorists we can probably stop blowing up fishing boats and start blowing up boardrooms.

I MEAN.
"Does this feel like or look like a well-run competent administration? It took them 10 months to discover that the United States doesn't grow bananas and that therefore if we tariff bananas that that's not going to bring banana factories on shore."

You can’t tell if someone is disabled just by looking at them.

There’s no such thing as the “genuinely disabled”.

You are not entitled to a person’s entire medical history just so you can decide whether to believe them or not.

People are not faking disability, most are trying to fake being well.

An official government account using the word “remigration” is not normal. It’s an imported term from European far-right movements that refers to mass expulsion. Democracies do not use population-purification language. #holdfast #SteadyState

COVID is bad. COVID + a completely separate infection hitting at the same time leads to a very bad holiday week.

Hospitals are no place to spend Thanksgiving. But! I am out now and feeling so much better. All hail antibiotics!

Anyone who says you can't form tight bonds with #coworkers doing #remotework isn't trying hard enough. I worked in a completely #async team several years ago, with folks across the US and Canada. We've never met in person. And I got so close to some of them that we still chat multiple times a week.

Finally reading #UnmaskingforLife by #DevonPrice. Excellent so far. The section on work especially calls out things I'd always thought were just me! I haven't gotten to sex and relationships yet but I'm sure that'll be just as insightful. Recommended! #autism #actuallyautistic #booksky

Trains are better anyway. I love trains. There's no TSA for a train and you get a significantly higher luggage allowance. I've gone from Seattle to New York by train - twice! - and loved the experience both times.
A growing number of Americans are rolling into the holidays by train with Amtrak reporting an increase in riders after federally mandated flight reductions led to thousands of delays and cancellations at major airports nationwide. NBC News' Emilie Ikeda reports.

The more "agentic AI" bs #Windows pushes the happier I am with #Linux. And the more convinced I am that local data storage is the best data storage. I'm now building my own NAS and learning about #selfhosting. I can organize my own files and write my own emails, thanks, and telemetry isn't required.

I'm working on my #DedicantPath material for #ADF (Ár nDraíocht Féin) and I'm growing concerned that my personal ritual calendar won't fit their criteria. I've structured it to fit my local Texas growing season, which I've backed up with sources but doesn't match their fixed Celtic-based schedule.

Tried to use #Etsy while signed in using a VPN and they suspended my account. The "#security questions" used to verify me included what city/state I normally log in from, what browser I normally use, and what specific mobile device(s) I use to log in. They TRACK that! That is so creepy! #privacy

TIL that it's really easy to take a computer mouse apart for painting. And that like a PC, they can get dusty on the inside. This mouse is old enough that the rubber is wearing away where my thumb goes, so it could have been worse, but there was way more dust inside then I'd thought there'd be!

If you were waiting for a reason to #deGoogle, here you go. I was horrified when I found out how much info #Google has on me, going back 10+ years, that was LINKED TO MY ACCOUNT. It wasn't even anonymized! And they're using it (even if indirectly) for #ICE? I say no. #Proton is an easy alternative.

Wonder when - if ever - MAGA will realize ICE will eventually come after them, too. Trump and his puppets promote beating clergy and protect men who rape little girls. NO ONE is safe from a regime that is this morally bankrupt.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.
