Reflecting on change from the mountaintop.

The lighting shifts slightly as time passes, the dappled shadows of clouds come and go, the wind fades and returns. Each change seem small on its own, but in a blink it is clear just how much the world is transformed.

A tufted titmouse, up close, perched on a needled evergreen branch in a delicate, light snow. The tuft is up, a little. The gray-and-white bird has a warming sunset hint under its wings. Its beak is black and short, like a black sunflower seed. The bird looks impudent. Annoyed by your presence. That's all right. Humans have not done much to earn the favor of birds these days though to be fair, the bird is there because there is a bird feeder nearby, so a little gratitude would be nice, bird. It's fine.
