WhatsApp offering to have its in-built AI interpret my wife's messages to me is a bad joke, both in the sense of it being something a hacky comedian would riff on for 5 minutes, but also in the sense that "See you soon, love you" would require bleeding-edge tech to suss out the meaning of.

The reason I don't engage with Louis CK stuff anymore is NOT because I suddenly discovered in late 2017 that he was never funny in the first place.
one thing that would be cool, when prominent creators turn out to be terrible people, would be if we didn't have to go through this performative dance of insisting that their work was never good in the first place.

Among its many other strengths, the opening theme music for BLUE LIGHTS lasts all of about 3.5 seconds. Very much in keeping with the "lets get down to business" feel of the show.

(Though it does make you think you're in for something a little more narratively hi-octane.)

The thing that bothers me so much about Carney's joke about greenlighting the Heated Rivalry show is that it furthers the narrative that it's a needle in a haystack. Anyone who reads Canadian books and watches Canadian film knows that we could have dozens more HRs with enough funding.

Remarkable thing about O'Hara - she almost always took big swings in her work, threw herself into roles, went huge when she needed to, and sometimes even when she didn't.

But there is likely not a human alive who, hearing her name, thinks: "Oh, her? Not for me."

I think I'm going to stay off of the Internet today because the death of Catherine O'Hara is a really quite sad.
It's a cliche to say the good ones go first, but wow did the world just lose a very bright light.
