Ah, happy 88th anniversary of the day Oswald Mosley tried to sell fascism to Liverpudlians – and someone concussed him with a brick
A man in a suit stands at a microphone which has been mounted on the roof of a van. There are loudspeakers at his feet, and a building behind him. He has an arm raised, and is flinching as projectiles are hurled at him, because he's a fucking Nazi

I can confirm that Alison is *far* better at Slay the Spire than I am, but that does not surprise me. Very fun & informative episode, thank you!

This is awful, and I'm sure he would have said similar about the sitting President.

"I would smear the bejaysus out of her, simply because you've nothing to lose... you've got to create a fear... in my experience, nothing works like negative campaigning."

They're really openly saying the quiet part out loud now aren't they...🤔

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

In honor of National Poetry Day, the greatest parody rewrite of all time:
Screen cap of parodic version of William Blake's "The Tyger" that begins:
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
(Not sure if I spelled that right)
What immortal hand or eye
Could fashion such a stripy guy?
What the hammer that hath hewn it
Into such a chonky unit?
Did who made the lamb make thee,
Or an external franchisee?

I finally got my hands on a copy of Future, the 1966 future-forecasting boardgame released as a business tool by Kaiser Aluminum, and it is a _trip_, including one of the wildest dice you've ever seen. Not played it yet, but here's an unboxing video to give you the gist. youtu.be/V_5tm8p09ks

an extraordinary person with an extraordinary legacy who nevertheless didn’t take herself too seriously

when Gary Larson published this cartoon, she was in Africa and her institute was horribly offended and drafted a complaint

the whole thing was defused when she returned - she found it funny

If we are very lucky we find community in our industries. Many years ago Fearghas McKay was one of the people who welcomed me into the wider Internet community and the news of his death today is shocking. He wanted people to connect and he brought us together. He will be sorely missed by so many.

I'm in The Hague this week at the Europol Cybercrime Conference and I had the opportunity to speak to people today about Internet operations and the RIPE community. Then a perfect dinner where chatting to someone I haven't seen in a while (go Irish everywhere) led to meeting new excellent folks.

My 1014 jokes worked better when the scoreline was a lot worse for the Vikings, but still, Steelers win the first #NFL game in Dublin, which is a thing, I guess?
