This, really, is the bottom line on why using generative AI to produce images or writing will never bring the respect AI boosters desire. There is nothing to speak to, and nothing to admire

A reminder that I’ve archived every public-facing web page from the CDC website prior to the Trump Regime purging data back in late January:

With the Musk/Trump Administration bulldozing their way through seemingly every federal government website, teams of data analysts and archivers have been attempting to download and archive as much fe...

The original animated Moana isn’t even a decade old. The sequel just came out last year.

The flood of these live action remakes has long been a sign of creative bankruptcy, but this feels like a whole new level of desperation and shamelessness
The first trailer for #Moana offers our first glimpse at newcomer Catherine Laga'aia and OG Maui Dwayne Johnson in Disney's new live-action remake.

I finished the entire BLOPS 7 campaign, asked for a refund and Valve granted it to me.

I wrote: "The game constantly utilized AI generated options that were not present in the marketing for the game as well as videos and screenshots of the material."

Shocked they did TBH

steam is apparently allowing "this game had AI in it that it didn't disclose" as a valid return statement, so if you or anyone you know actually paid $70 for slop, get that money back

This is bad and dumb and scary, but I also think it’s important to understand it in the context of Disney’s revenue falling below expectations last quarter. “Talking” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, feels like a way to try and save face with investors more than anything

It’s as if it’s Disney’s goal to degrade its own brand. American capitalism is just lopping off its own limbs for the bbq

It’s more than just being incapable of media literacy. There has been a concerted push against media literacy in no small part because those with power find it troublesome to their interests

Reading @markzdanielewski.bsky.social’s Tom’s Crossing. I feel a lot’s been made about there not being a “gimmick” like his other books but that isn’t right. The ways he utilized fonts and page layouts were never gimmicks IMO, but intentional ways to pull readers into a particular frame of mind

Stop sharing AI slop.

It's one thing if you don't know or just made a mistake. No need to breathe down someones neck b/c its harder to tell nowadays.

But if you do know (ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO KNOW) even if you're posting it to make fun of it or sharing it unironically... consider not doing that.

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever
