I'm building a prototype of an atproto app with "local-only" posting and sharing options. Catalyst of it is a potential client need but will make it open source (of course). Just wanted to check if anyone's done this yet. Inspo is ActivityPub's Hometown

Should follow same lexicon even though it doesn’t technically need to. May do some kind of notation in the uri to specify it’s local only.
v1 is storing local posts on the app-view. v2 will use whatever private state solution the ecosystem lands on. Hopefully backwards compatible but breakings fine

Working name for the project is "Tribe". For Tribe, login would be oauth. Public posts would be done via authenticated users' PDS (similar to Wafrn). Local posts would follow same schema but stored on the app server.

i think it sucks that online spaces really dont have safe spaces for kids. BUT we need more public spaces for children, especially ones that dont cost money

There should be no Nazi newsletters and 'thought leaders' on there. Y'all should have pushed them out to make Substack a safe space, like all the LGBT peeps and allies have repeatedly tried (and succeeded/failed) to do here on BlueSky and hold the site accountable.

Sam's done it, I've done it, a bunch of others have for years now. And I genuinely don't know why those who use actively post to Substack and aren't a horrible Nazi haven't banded together in the past two plus years and demanded that the platform remove them.
