ICYMI: you can still listen to my documentary about the man who claims to be God, and the group he has built around him.

Who are they? What lead them to believe in this man? Is this just modern spirituality… or a cult?

I am so tired of living through historical events, good fucking god
Meta official content policy using the dehumanizing term "transgenderism" is a shock and a woeful regression of the state of things. I can only hope history will look back at instances like these and know it is well in the past.

Today is January 6th and no one is watching the Capitol be plundered, feces being smeared on the walls, and police officers being stabbed with American flags.

Why? Because one side believes in democracy no matter what, and the other side only believes in it only when they win.

For my newsletter, I wrote about who is and isn't allowed to be a vigilante and how our tolerance for violence is incredibly subjective: audacity.substack.com/p/the-least-...

Okay I haven’t done a querying advice thread in awhile but here is one short tip that should be obvious but maybe isn’t:

When you get a full or partial request, don’t name it something like TOTSv5.docx!
Use your name and the title so it’s easy to ID the file.

Ex: MStevenson_Behooved_fullMS.docx

I was followed by Sarah Waters (author of Fingersmith, Tipping the Velvet, etc. & winner of the Booker Prize), & am blushing with joy. She's one of my favorite writers of historical sapphic fiction, and someone I've always admired. If it's not really her, I'll keep telling myself that it is anyway!
This novel's premise is superb and wonderful to explore. But the mystery-driven throughline that drives the narrative is woefully mediocre. If only its premise was blanketed by an equally engaging story.
Or fantasy / dystopia authors who write "wars" that consists of one singular skirmish

I love it when science fiction writers have no sense of what "a lot" is so you end up getting a huge assault on earth being carried out by 30 ships. That's like if the entire Napoleonic army was 5 guys on horses.
Thanks! And these 10k sprints are usually within what timespan, out of curiosity?
What's your writing routine? Im no discovery writer so writing without a plan means I have days of nothing to paper. Frustrating!
Oh, that one's on my bookshelf! I'll check it out. Many thanks!

The Needfire, a sapphic Gothic horror that explores the exploitation of the land in Scottish history and what happens when it decides to fight back, is out in July 2025 with @solarisbooks.bsky.social!
