47 Days.

That’s how long my fully electric home ran off just solar and battery in NH. EV’s, a pool, heat pumps, entertainment for 2 kids, etc.

A cleaner, better future is possible. We just need to spread the word.

Climate change still matters!

I was at a fair with a local Democrats booth. They had a huge list of issues to vote on as the one you’re most concerned about. Climate wasn’t on there, despite having around 50-60 total issues in about 15 categories.

Everyone needs to call their elected representatives demanding action against Trump, particularly those in red states. He is hurting Americans and we need a coalition willing to impeach him and remove him from office successfully.

For all the fears of Chinese dominance Trump sure is trying everything in his power to ensure they are the global leader in energy moving forward. Stopping IRA funding will be looked back on as a major misstep when scholars study the fall of America.

In my Army days we did the impossible with limited resources and under hostile conditions. As a team we had no other option so we put our heads down and got to work. In the climate fight we have resources. We just need the naysayers to sit down so the fighters can get the work done. #climatefight

An exciting day in our home. My wife got her first EV today, and we are officially a 100% EV home. When we get heat pumps next year we will have 0 fossil fuels in our New Hampshire home, with solar and batteries for power. #driveelectric #electrichome #electrifyeverything

I fight for the climate for my two girls. They often ask what winters were like as a kid in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s not what it was, but I want them to enjoy it while they can. Pats Peak in NH today.

The battle for the biggest heat pump:

Finland currently builds the world’s largest air source heat pump with a capacity of 33 MW - about 4,000x bigger in capacity terms than an average domestic heat pump.

Finland is building a giant heat pump to cut CO2 from warming homes
The heat pump will be part of a plant that will warm around 30,000 homes in Finland’s capital city.

The world’s 280 million electric bikes and mopeds are cutting demand for oil 4x more than electric cars due to their staggering uptake in China and elsewhere.
The world’s 280 million electric bikes and mopeds are cutting demand for oil far more than electric cars
Electric vehicles get all the press – but it’s the smaller unsung two wheelers cutting oil demand the most.

I read about literacy levels in the US tonight. I just had to thank my wife for not being dumb. Aside from being gorgeous we have amazing intellectual conversations. I see others in my extended family who can barely carry a conversation because they have nothing new to talk about. It’s sad to see.

I think only enviros/climate/energy people know that the US is producing more oil than Saudi Arabia these days. To quote the US EIA the "United States produces more crude oil than any country, ever"

this is not a flex.
Lede of the day: “Donald Trump is looking to revive the Keystone XL oil pipeline on his first day back in the White House, according to three people familiar with the president-elect’s plan, even though no companies are trying to build it anymore.”

The Trump team's plan to resuscitate a dead oil project
The company behind the project cancelled it and the steel that was in ground has been removed, but it's on the president-elect's energy to-do list.

I was telling my wife about Bluesky last night. She asked if I know anyone or if it’s just celebrities. I said I don’t know anyone personally but I do follow @katharinehayhoe.com She was confused and I just said she’s like the Emma Watson of energy. She wasn’t as impressed as I was. Sorry Katharine.

As I get older I embrace seasonality more. I enjoy the earlier colder nights just as much as long summer evenings. They’re different but they’re both vital to who I am.
