Rice-Eccles Stadium has a bunch of puddles all over the field right now as sheets of rain pour down. Nobody has entered the field all night. The game is still not on delay ... but we're right on the edge of that happening.

You can do a lot with an e-bike.
An e-bike with a trailer carrying a ladder and other work equipment used to hang banners from street lights.

By me this week - the happiest thing I've got to report of late, with a glorious trip over the summer to Montreal

Spent some time with planners talking geeky planning stuff and how to get shit done, alternative theme for this years fall Utah APA Conference.
A bike tour for city planners from around Utah on one of the most pleasant tree canopies over a street in Downtown. A walking tour showing off the 2100 South, showing off new people oriented infrastructure, and talking zoning reform with planners from across Utah. More planners on bikes learning about the trials of building new bike infrastructure and aligning land use with active transportation.

I’d guess if it’s true, there will be an answer in the next 3-4 months. Funding for a new arena will likely have to be approved by the legislature.

This is today’s media. Misleading headlines to grab attention without regard for how the casual reader’s thoughts will form how they interpret the article. In this case, the photo will be interpreted by some (many?) to reflect current conditions in Portland. Selective influence from the media

This is how propaganda works. They slapped an image on this from Los Angeles in 1992 during Rodney King riots.

The FAA is delaying flights at Newark and Denver airports because they haven’t got enough air traffic control. Burbank has zero ATC from 4.30-10pm.

Lots of controllers who aren’t being paid during the government shutdown are calling in sick.

It’s good for the soul
The Wasatch mountains with fresh snow and the aspens and willows showing off their fall colors while the pines in the background provide a deep green contrast with the snow.

A three story building also looks like it would block the view.

Up to 2.47 inches, the second wettest day ever in SLC according to this link. Its also shifted to a northwest flow over the great salt lake. If lake effect kicks in, that record is in serious jeopardy. home.chpc.utah.edu/~u0790486/wx...

The official airport weather station showing 2.24 inches since midnight, 4th wettest day ever in SLC. The record is 2.64 set in 1901. And still raining hard.

If the Utes aren’t playing, I’m a big Cincinnati and Houston fan today.

Food is one of the best things about cities. Just embrace it.

The city is obsessed with shutting down unlicensed taco trucks and people selling fruit from tables, saying they've gotten complaints from vendors who paid their fees and got to be vendors the right way. I'm 100% with Charles on this one: Unauthorized vendors are a feature of real cities.
Big City, Big Street Food
Seattle is growing. We are becoming big. And with a big city, comes big, delicious food tents.

Deleted my account and then after 60 days reclaimed my username with a random gmail account with a bunch of numbers at the end and didn’t save the log in for either. Haven’t been back.

Very possible. On behalf of so many in the US, I’m sorry and it sucks.

If you want it, make it easy.

When it comes to better leadership for better city-building, here’s a simple piece of advice that sounds obvious, but still needs to be said as often as possible.

Make the good things that you say you want easy, and the bad things that you say you don’t want hard, instead of the other way around.
