Found a mountain dulcimer in my mother-in-law's garage so I'm going to fuck around and restring it. Stay tuned

See what I did there

Speaking of this, should I take them to the Emily Dickinson museum this week
This just in: apparently I'm the parent and I can make them go to poetry readings

Why do I always have to go to Billy Beez and my kids never have to go to poetry readings? Unfair

I had a great reading in Harlem, NYC this afternoon. I am now in Connecticut. One week ago, I was about to board a plane heading to São Paulo. In between, I was home for about twenty-one hours. Truly what a week.

Drop out of life with bong in hand
Follow the smoke toward the riff-filled land
Drop out of life with bong in hand
Follow the smoke toward the riff-filled land

Proceeds the weedian. Nazareth
We are two mariners
Our ship's sole survivors
In this
Belly of a whale

Its ribs our ceiling beams
Its guts our carpeting
I guess we have some time to kill

You may not remember me
I was a child of 3
And you a lad of 18
But I remember you
And I will relate to you
How our histories interweave

My son the articulate candy lover
the 2.5yo picked a bag of peanut m&ms as his good boy road trip treat today. back on the road, he’s munching behind us when we hear, “this snack is amazing.”

I'm really proud of how my Portuguese skills are coming along. I've been in São Paulo for a couple of days, and have navigated a variety of conversations including asking for alternative milks in my coffee and admitting to my cab driver that I was wrong about the airport terminal I needed.

"The artistry was celebrated as pushing boundaries when, in actuality, stormwater doesn’t know any."

Now that it's raining more than ever, we can still analyze this together
just learned we won an award for our blog post about Tom Holland and stormwater management.

remember, when you see an article about stormwater management, you repost it. i don’t make the rules.
What Tom Holland’s historic lip-sync showcase taught us about stormwater management

I started Lonesome Dove in January, then had to return it to the library bc I couldn't finish it in time, and am now finally wrapping it up. It really is that good. Cc @elinor.bsky.social who should know about this development

Update: he pointed to a nondescript, windowless office park in Weaverville, NC as we drove by it and said "there it is, there's the dark McDonald's." I'm never going into that building ever
My son is repeatedly asking to go to "the dark McDonald's" and I have no idea what he's talking about

When we say something is unbearably beautiful what we mean is that we do not have the capacious heart of the bear to appreciate it
Bears are often seen pausing to take in breathtaking views, hinting at a possible sense of beauty. In the wild, they've been spotted sitting silently for long stretches, gazing at sunsets, lakes & mountains. Not hunting, not moving, just watching.

I wrote a lil post about a poetry book I first read in 2010, and then reread again just this week. Like everything, it ended up being about arts in late capitalism! Here, if you're interested -- open.substack.com/pub/sadrevie...
